A TikTok creator has reportedly been killed after her car crashed into a canal in Mexico.
Multiple reports have said the accident happened near the beach resort of Sinaloa on Friday night, 8 September, with the victim named as 22 year old Michelle Lizarraga, known on the social media site as La Bellota.
Hours earlier, the beauty influencer had shared a video with her 14K TikTok followers of her partying at a local nightclub in Mazatlan.
In the brief clip she could be seen drinking from a bottle and pouting at the camera, while dancing to loud music under flashing disco lights with two other female friends.
Her car was discovered at 8am the next morning by local construction workers, with emergency services pulling it from the water.
One report details how her car flooded and capsized after hitting the water in the irrigation canal.
Although rescue workers tried to resuscitate Michelle, she was reportedly already dead.
She was recognised by a distinctive 666 tattoo on her right arm and a cross on her left arm according to reports, but her identity has not yet been officially confirmed.
A Mazatlan-based lawyer, Maria Teresa Guerra Ochoa, has said she is waiting for an official report before she will rule out foul play in Michelle's apparent death.
“There was an incident here in the south of the state, especially in this municipality, but it has not yet been confirmed that it was an incident of violence,” she said, according to Linea Directa.
She added: “We are waiting for the results of the investigation and so far we are still at the same count with 21 femicides and two intentional murders."
Fans have flooded the comments with condolences, with one saying "Rest in peace my queen, I love you friend." Others simply said: “QEPD,” which is short for “Que En Paz Descanses” or “May you rest in peace.”
On Facebook, a friend posted a heartbreaking message, which read: "“I can’t understand how someone with so many illusions, talent and a wonderful human being can leave so suddenly.
“You were a light in my life, you illuminated many of my dark moments, and now that light will be in my heart. I don’t want to remember you sad because I know you wouldn’t like that. I will try to remember you with your smile, with your jokes."
Michelle, who was born in Mazatlan, produced videos for TikTok showcasing her fashion sense and setting herself up as a style influencer, with her videos reportedly going viral.
Just days ago, OK! revealed how Brazilian fitness influencer Larissa Borges died at the age of 33 after suffering a double cardiac arrest.
