Tom Daley, 27, has called I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here star Matty Lee, 23, his “work husband”. The British divers took gold at this year’s summer Olympics in Tokyo.

So now we’ve got the same ring.

Speaking to GQ, Tom revealed he got Matt a ring with the Olympics logo on it.

He said: “Yeah.

“So now we’ve got the same ring.

“I’ve got my husband [holds up his wedding band] and my work husband [holds up the Olympic Games ring], basically.”

At the 2020 Olympics, Matty and Tom took Gold in the Men’s synchronised 10m platform event.

Alongside this, the pair also won gold in synchronised 10m platform at the European Championships held in Budapest.

For his own success at world level, Matty won the silver medal in the mixed 10m synchronised platform events at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships.

Speaking to Leeds Live, Matty Lee said he was asked to do the Jungle as soon as he got back from Tokyo, saying it was “the icing on the cake”.

He said: “We were on the way back from the airport where they had picked me up from Tokyo when I got a call about the programme.

“When I told Tom, he was in shock too! He is so excited for me and he has always been so supportive and helped me a lot over the past three years.

“He gives me advice about anything whether it is relationships or whatever – I always ask Tom.”

Matty has also been asking Tom how to deal with his newfound fame, after a whirlwind of a year.

Speaking of his year: “Nothing ever prepares you for what life will be like after you do well in the Olympics.

“I was and still am mainly in shock that I am doing I’m A Celebrity.

“My two childhood dreams were to win an Olympic medal and take part in my favourite TV series.

“And now I am doing both this year!”

He said a reason he took up the offer was because he wants to be known as more than Tom’s partner.

Training for the Olympics is something he knew how to do and what to expect, but the jungle preparation will not be the same.

Matty said: “I think I will definitely freak out at rats and I know I will scream.

“Heights won’t be an issue though! I am obviously used to diving off 10 metre boards!”

The diver has had some TV experience, having appeared on The Chase and A Question of Sport.

This year’s I’m A Celebrity is packed full of celebrities such as Frankie Bridge, Richard Madelely and Louise Minchin.

Due to Covid restrictions, the contestants will camp at Gwrych Castle in Abergele again.

The series will begin this evening on ITV.
