I want to share what I learn & to walk this walk with all of you

In view of her 154,400 followers, she talked about how she is trying to turn her experience into a positive one, where she can help others.

She said: “I’m trying my best to turn my breast cancer diagnosis into a learning & growing experience.

“I want to share what I learn & to walk this walk with all of you because sadly ALL of us will be touched by cancer at some stage in our lives.”

She shared a post of a Twitter follower’s  private message, which expressed her gratitude to Julia for helping her with her cancer struggle.

The post said: “…Had my mammogram just waiting to have my ultrasound this Saturday then results fingers crossed it’s nothing.

“Just wanted to say if it wasn’t for you your posts and positively and encouraging women to get checked I probably would not have gone to the doctor’s in the first place.”

The social media user added that what Julia is doing is making a massive difference to people suffering from cancer and that she is a huge inspiration.

Julia’s followers were extremely supportive of the star’s post.

@Herbsher wrote: “Have learned so much as a patient with leukaemia that I didn’t appreciate-about values, priorities, humility. “

@Nealweekes also wrote: “Go girl…..from a prostate cancer survivor…..we have to spread the word because if it saves just one life it’s so worth it…..but hopefully it’s saves so many more….”

This isn’t the first time Julia has taken to social media to share updates with fans.

Earlier this week the BBC host shared, with her Twitter followers, plenty of tips that she has used to help ease the pain of recovery this last week.

This includes a heart-shaped pillow which she places under her arm to get rid of any soreness or unease.

“The reason they are so comforting is that they fit underneath your arm, and if you’ve had a mastectomy or an operation on your boob, of course, you’re very tender and sore under there,” she said.

“So, you want something that just sits and supports you, and that’s why they’re so brilliant.”

Julia also showed her post-mastectomy bra, which she says she’ll have to wear for the next month as it “holds everything in” while she heals after her operation.

Another tip includes placing cold packs in a tea towel underneath the breast and underarm.

“You can even tuck it in sometimes to your bra like that, and then put your comfy pyjamas over, get that heart-shaped pillow in there, and it really eases the pain,” the star added.

Julia hopes that speaking candidly about her own diagnosis, it will encourage other people to get tested.

She told MailOnline: “My plan is to come through it and out the other side, and I hope to be able to do that bravely enough so that women who are scared to get tested, to get a diagnosis, go ahead,” she told them.
