Yvette Fielding shares thoughts on 'haunted' doll on This Morning
Yvette Fielding has opened up about a difficult time in her life, when she was struggling to pay her mortgage and had to be on benefits.
The 55-year-old said that after a successful run on Blue Peter, she was suffering from Graves disease and wasn’t able to get any work.
While appearing on the Celebrity Catch Up: Life After That Thing I Did podcast with entertainment journalist Genevieve, Yvette revealed she was struggling financially.
She expressed: “I remember thinking, ‘Oh my god, what am I going to do? I have to look after my child, I’ve got to pay a mortgage… I didn’t know what to do.”
The television personality managed to get a teaching job at a school in Chelsea in the drama department but it was unpaid work.

“So within that short period of time, I was on the dole because they helped pay my mortgage,” she revealed.
“It was about two months they paid my mortgage and I was like, ‘Thank god for that’.”
Thankfully, Yvette’s agent called her and asked her if she wanted to be part of a pantomime and after that, the phone wouldn’t stop ringing for different job opportunities.
The I’m A Celebrity star also opened up about her paranormal series Most Haunted being labelled as fake.

The TV show spooked millions with its footage of hauntings and poltergeists, but it was soon exposed as a fake by one of its own stars.
In the same podcast, Yvette lifted the lid on the fakery row that saw the show quickly turn into a mockery and what effect it had on her.
“It used to really upset me. I mean, when we found out that Derek was a fake, I think I cried the first time because I had told him things about my deceased relatives and he told me things back,” she said.
“Nothing major that would make me think, ‘Oh my god,’ there was nothing specific he told me.”
