A SAVVY mum has revealed what she buys at Aldi to slash her grocery bills – and she even managed to make five delicious family meals for just £25.

With the cost-of-living crisis having the nation by its grip, millions of households have been forced to find new ways to save money, especially as the energy bills are set to soar.


Luckily, one mum has come to the rescue and shared her savvy shopping experience which has helped her feed her entire family for a couple of days. 

Ashleigh, who goes by the name of Cardiff.mum on Instagram, regularly posts about her life as a mum to her daughter Adaline. 

And in one video, which she shared to her 230k fans, Ashleigh showed how she managed to make five family meals for just £25.

Out of her food shopping, she managed to make a wide variety of nutritious and mouth-watering meals, such as a hearty Indian traybake with garlic naan, as well as parmesan crusted pesto chicken bagel burgers.

Offering a helping hand to fellow parents and cooking enthusiasts, the savvy shopper also shared her grocery list and recipes.

''Enjoy and tag me in anything you make, so excited to see how you put them together,'' she wrote in the caption of the clip.

Indian traybake

The first scrumptious meal was a filling Indian traybake dish, which she served with garlic naans and Tikka thighs.

Alongside these Ashleigh had also included fragrant chickpeas, garlicky roasted veggies with a generous dollop of homemade mint yoghurt dip.

Chicken burgers

For Day 2, the cooking fan found some chicken breasts and decided to use them up for burgers.

''Pesto-coated chicken breast burgers fried in a parmesan crust with fresh rocket, crunchy red onion and garlic pesto yoghurt dressing.''

When it comes to buying chicken, the mum recommended purchasing large packs of this meat.

''Buy 1kg or large pack of chicken breasts and stretch them between all meals.

“Plan the meals which use the same veg and divide the veg up before you cook.

“Marinate chicken the night before using whatever spices you have, it makes a huge difference to simple meals.

“Make meals using spices/oils/herbs and bits you already have at home (cheddar cheese, olive oil, garlic etc).”

Mexican taco bowls

The third meal she managed to make out of the bargain buys was Mexican-inspired and perfect for vegetarians or those trying to cut down on their meat consumption.

These taco bowls came with ''halloumi slices layered over cajun roasted peppers, mexican rice and your favourite taco fillings topped with spicy chickpeas and crunchy red onion, all in a bowl made out of a tortillas''.

Creamy pasta

Towards the end of the week, the mum also whipped up a creamy Cajun ricotta pasta with cheesy chorizo.

Describing the dish, Ashleigh wrote: ''A smokey, creamy, cheesy pasta topped with crispy chorizo pieces, fresh garlic and rocket.''

Lemon and garlic kebab

The final meal was for those Greek food lovers – chicken kebab wraps with a feta and mint dip.
