I work at a McDonald’s drive thru and there’s a reason we ask you loads about your order | The Sun

WE ALL know the pain of going to a McDonald’s drive thru only to repeat your order a thousand times before heading to the pick-up window.

But it turns out, there’s a reason why they ask loads about your order and it’s a lot simpler than you might think.

Taking to social media, one McDonald’s employee shared the struggle she goes through on the other end of the intercom.

Posting a clip of what it’s like from her end, she could be seen standing by the order machine with a headset on.

Viewers could hear indiscernible whispering in the background as the woman held the headset.

“Say that again,” she said into the speaker, to which the person on the other replied with the same whispering noises.

Repeating the question, the person on the other end could then be heard shouting: “I said, can I get a double burger, no onions!”

The McDonald’s employee reacted by jumping in her spot before putting the order through.

“When the customer talks too quietly or you realise that you are actually deaf from all the machines,” she wrote over this.

People were quick to comment on the post as one person wrote: “Or deaf from the customers honking their horns or their vehicle is louder than them talking or it’s the person from front passenger side,” followed by an upside down smiling emoji.

Another person said: “They do be yelling at us,” followed by a crying emoji.

“That’s when I tell em to pull up to the window and order face 2 face,” another explained, to which she responded by posting two thumbs up emojis.

A fourth shared: “no because speak uppp”.

While a fifth added: “It gets so bad I give the headset to other ppl LMAOO”.

In a second clip, TikTok user @mcdonalds_palm could be seen with the headset on again as she waited for the order to come through.

The person on the other end said: “I have a code, hello? I have a code.”

The McDonald’s employee replied: “What’s the code ma’am?”

“I don’t know, give me one second,” they responded. “Umm… Umm…”

The video ends with the McDonald’s worker looking fed up, which resonated with viewers as well.

“I hate it when I’m asking if they’ll be using their mobile app and they say yes then they’re like one second I have to open the app up,” one person complained.
