I'm 6ft 4 and taller than my boyfriend – people always stare in the street and make sly digs | The Sun

A WOMAN who is 6ft 4in has told how strangers always stare at her when she’s out in public because of her height.

Roslyn Grady, 28, has always been tall and used to hate the extra attention when she was younger.

Now in a happy relationship with partner Gary, who is 6ft 3in, she’s learned to embrace her stature.

Roslyn, from East Whitburn, West Lothian, says: “I’ve seen people on the street and we look at each other because it’s so uncommon.

“I hated it when I was younger. Sometimes I have anxiety even now about people looking at me because it’s different.

“You don’t really see tall women and I know people don’t mean anything bad – but it makes you wonder what they’re thinking about you.

“If I could, I’d be happy at 6ft. But I can’t change it.

“People make wee sly comments and it makes it hard and you feel quite self conscious.

“My boyfriend is 6ft 3 and when we’re in shops he will notice more than anything, especially when we first started going out, that people are staring at me.

“Now it’s part of my personality. I’ve always been the tall one.”

But not everybody has something bad to say about Roslyn’s height.

In fact, it’s usually other women who love her unique look

She adds: “Some women have come up to me on nights out and said my height is amazing, that I suit it so much.

“At one point every day someone would mention my height whether it was at work or on a night out.

“Even when I see smaller people I tend to avoid them because I don’t want them to feel awkward by me standing nearer them.”
