I’m a gardening expert and these are the seeds to plant now for a gorgeous garden in Spring

WE absolutely love spending time in our gardens in the warm summer months – but tending to all the plants we lovingly planted suddenly drops to the bottom of our to-do lists the second it gets chilly.

Sound familiar? Well if your outside space is looking anywhere near as barren and neglected as ours, then you might want to take a leaf out of gardening expert Hollie Newton's book… no pun intended.

Speaking to The Express, Sproutl's Chief Creative Officer shared the seeds you should be planting now so that your garden will be looking blooming great by Spring.

She explained: "I always like this time of year to find hellebores because they’re so beautiful and there are so many varieties.

“They’re lovely and subtle and it feels quite special to plant a winter flower. There are flowers like pansies and violas that will still be alive.

“There are some cyclamen as well."

Alternatively, if you're worried about planting new things in the depths of winter then the expert recommends buying hyacinth bulbs – which you can keep inside until Spring has sprung.

As for your evergreen plants, Hollie says it's worth holding off moving them until March and the soil is warmer.

That said, the expert recommended sowing seeds NOW to get the best results later in the year.
