ALL beauty fans will have been told that applying hair oils leaves your locks looking healthy and shiny.
But according to a hair whizz there are several do's and don't's when it comes to using serums – so, have you spent years applying them wrong?
Amber, who uses jojoba oil on the mids and ends of her hair, took to TikTok (@amberpot) and highlighted the importance of applying hair oils properly, before sharing her top tips and tricks.
So, hands up if you're guilty of leaving hair oils on overnight…well, you're not alone.
But in the clip, Amber begins by warning: "Leave oil on scalp for no longer than five hours.
"Do not leave on overnight."

Amber also advises never leaving your hair uncovered after oiling.
Instead, she recommends following a super easy trick to ensure your hair receives all of the possible benefits of the product – and it costs just 99p.

"Cover hair with clingfilm to avoid dirt and dust," she suggests.
The hair guru also notes that you should never oil every day – advising instead to apply the product 1 – 2 times a week.

She also recommends using a scalp scrub after oiling.
And it's not the first time hair experts have shared their recommendations when it comes to applying oil.
Fabulous previously told how hair guru Matt, from New York, the US, addressed his 1.4 million social media followers and warned: "Don't apply hair serum from the bottle onto your hair.
''Most oil-based or serum-based hair products are gonna perform best when you break them down really well on your palm.''
According to Matt, who posts under the username @mattloveshair, you should first squeeze a tiny amount of the serum and rub into into your hands for eight or so seconds.
Once it's warm and ready to use, he suggests gently working it into your locks and watching the magic happen.
