AN age-defying makeup artist has revealed one of the biggest mistakes people make when applying beauty products to mature skin.
She demonstrated the best method for achieving a youthful and glowing complexion.
Tonia Jaton Ranco (@rancobeauty) has garnered over 190,000 followers on TikTok, where she advocates for beauty at any age.
The content creator, who is over 50, took to the social media platform to explain the best way to apply foundation.
She said: “Mature skin makeup mishaps, today we’re going to talk about foundation.
“One of the biggest mistakes made is using way too much foundation.
“With mature skin obviously we’re going to have folds, fine lines, and wrinkles.
“It’s really easy to think pile on the foundation to cover that up when you don’t really need to.
“What I liked to do is go in with a concealer.”
Tonia held up Nars soft matte concealer which costs $32 from the brand’s website. She described it as “one of the best” concealers.

Applying it to her smile lines, she continued: “I like to take a little of that.
“For instance, if you have lines around here what you could do is get a concealer that’s closer to your skin tone and pat that in to cover any fine lines.
“You can use that same concealer to make your foundation just add some dew drops.”
She poured a small amount of foundation onto a makeup mixing palette and combined it with Glow Recipe’s dew drops which cost $35 from the brand’s website.
She said: “Then take your foundation brush and start to just stipple that in.
“Now you can see the foundation just looks like my skin.
“If you’re going to opt for a foundation, I would suggest a skin-like foundation.
“My favorite is the Patrick Ta foundation. This is amazing and so skin-like.”
Tonia applied the Patrick Ta foundation on the left side of her face to show how it compared to her concealer hack.
The foundation comes with a finishing powder for $52 on the brand’s website.
Tonia said: “Looks just like my skin, it’s so light. Once I apply powder over that it’s not going to look cakey.
“Remember less is more.”
The video went viral with over 17,000 views and hundreds of likes, with many people gushing over her youthful appearance.
Viewers also took to the comment section asking for more tips for their problem areas.
One person wrote: “Thank you! I’m trying to break my habit of using a lot of foundation.”
A second said: “I have dark under eyes what do I use for this.”
Tonia responded: “Use a color corrector and add concealer.”

Tonia replied: “I do but also get Dysport (similar to Botox) about four times a year to minimize lines and wrinkles.”
