A COUPLE have left people stunned and broken a hospital's record thanks to their unusually large newborn.
Britteney and Chance Ayres, from Ontario, Canada, had a feeling their baby would be big, but they had no idea he'd be twice the size of the average newborn.
Sonny, who was delivered via cesarean section, arrived a week early but still weighed in at a whopping 14 pounds and 8 ounces.
“When they put Sonny on the scale, there was a drumroll and all the doctors and nurses were throwing out guesses about what the number would be, Chance, 37, told Today.com
When the doctors announced Sonny's weight the whole room erupted with cheers and applause, the dad recalled.
Sonny is the fifth child for the couple, and all of them were bigger than most newborns.

Chance, 6, Everett, 5, Lucky, 3, and Marigold, 18 months all weighed in above average, with Everett weighing 9 pounds, 14 ounces, Lucky and Marigold weighing more than 13 pounds, and Chance at 10 pounds, 9 ounces.
Unsurprisingly, mum-of-five Britteney, 31, says she doesn't miss being pregnant at all.
"Everywhere I went I got questions like, ‘How many are in there?’ And I’d have to explain that it wasn’t multiples, it was just one very large baby," she said.
Since being born baby Sonny has loved feeding time and even left a nurse stunned when he guzzled down 90ml of milk when a "typical baby will drink about 20."

“She handed me two bottles and was like, ‘He might not finish the second one, but give it a try,” the dad explained.
“Well, Sonny took those bottles down like it was his job. He crushed it and then he passed out."
Babies often grow to be larger than average because of gestational diabetes, but Britteney says she's never had the condition and that Sonny is just big.
Sonny isn't the only large newborn though, another couple welcomed a huge 14 pound baby who was so huge he went straight into clothes for a nine-month-old back in 2022.
The mum told Fox News: "He was so big plus I had almost double the amniotic fluid, so to say I had a big baby belly and that I was absolutely completely uncomfortable isn't enough."
In fact, baby Finnley was so big that it took two nurses to pull him out.
The mum continued: "Finnley was a little celebrity at the hospital. Nurses and doctors were non-stop talking about him. He is quite tall too at 23.75 inches.
"As soon as they pulled him out, they're like, 'Oh my gosh, that's huge!'
"Everybody was freaking out, like, 'I've never seen a baby that big, I can't believe it'. So perfect and round in every way. He's definitely my squishy little honey bear."
