Robbie Williams reveals the Queen didn’t know who he was TWICE – mistaking him for a member of congress and BGT winner Pudsey’s trainer – The Sun

ROBBIE Williams has revealed that despite performing for the Queen several times, Her Majesty still "hasn't got a clue who he is".

The Let Me Entertain You singer was speaking at his gig at the O2 Arena in London several years ago, when he revealed the Queen thought he was "a member of congress".

"I have had the pleasure of singing for the Queen this week. She hasn't got a clue who I am," he said at the time.

"I did the Queen's Jubilee this summer. I sang 'Let Me Entertain You'.

"After, I met the Queen and shook her hand. She thought I was a member of congress."

Despite performing at the celebration, according to Robbie, the 93-year-old struggles to remember who he is, despite former Take That bandmate, Gary Barlow having been awarded an OBE in recognition of his services to the entertainment industry and to charity.

And 45-year-old Robbie even sang at the Royal Variety Performance in the same year, alongside Alicia Keys, Kylie Minogue and Britain's Got Talent winners Ashleigh Butler and Pudsey.

But once again, Robbie says the Queen mistook him for someone else.

"At the Royal Variety Performance, in the line-up afterwards, we were shaking hands… and she thought I was Pudsey's trainer," he admitted.

Robbie isn't the only celebrity to have had an embarrassing encounter with the monarch.

Shawn Mendes recently recalled the moment he stood in silence with the Queen for a VERY awkward 10 minutes.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen Show, the 21-year-old singer revealed how at Her Maj's 92nd birthday last year, he had a very awkward encounter with the birthday girl.

"I'm in this backstage area and I'm standing there waiting to go on stage and the Queen just walks up next to me," he explained.

"And, you can't say anything, you're not allowed to speak to her unless she speaks to you first.

"So it was like 10 minutes of just awkward silence between me and the Queen.

"She didn't look at me at all, I looked over a couple of times and I was like, I probably shouldn't be looking.

"It was super weird, she didn't say anything."
