Not only does it keep the kids warm, but it’s a fun activity for them to do too! 

A MONEY saving whizz has revealed his clever hack to keep the kids warm while having fun at the same time. 



Known as someone who often shared his top tips and tricks to save money amidst the cost of living crisis, he took to his social media account to post the hack for parents to take advantage of. 

Posting a clip of a simple blanket fort, he told viewers: “When you wanna keep warm in winter and energy bills are too high, you’re just gonna have to build a fort at this point.” 

He went on to explain that they’re a fun activity to do with the kids and are simple to create too.

“First off, get one or two chairs and put them on either side and then drape a sheet overhead and law a throw down or a blanket for comfort,” he explained.

TikTok user @costoflivingcrisistips went on to share that this is an ideal activity to do if you have children and “want them to stay warm in winter”. 

He then told viewers to weigh down the sheet on the chair you drape it over with either a cushion or book. 

“Then fold over the sheet at the top, creating an entrance on one side,” he continued.

“If it gets too cold you can fold the sheet halfway down to keep you even warmer.”

He went on: “If you have a pet like a cat or a dog, they’ll love this. They’ll get right cozy and warm.

“Ideally make the fort over a rug or a carpet and then lay the throw down, so there’s no cold coming from the floor.”

You can then chill out inside the fort and read books, have some treats and even take a little nap. 

“So to save yourself a bit of money this winter, have fun and build yourself a fort,” he added as the video came to an end. 

People were quick to comment as one person wrote: “I’m 58 am I too old for this? Lol,” to which he replied: “Go for it mate,” followed by a thumbs up emoji.

Another shared: “p.s don't let your house get cold…mould and damp will start”.

He responded: “Definitely, it’s not an alternative to heating, it’s just a fun way for kids to keep extra warm,” alongside a thumbs up emoji. 

While a third added: “Cheap date night, build a fort and get some reduced bread to munch on,” alongside a laughing emoji.

He replied: “Or if she’s the one, a too good to go order,” with a thumbs up emoji.
