Wedding guest shows off dress and people are torn as to whether it's 'too bridal' or looks like 'lingerie' | The Sun

A FUTURE wedding guest has taken to social media to gauge public opinion about dress opinions for the event.

She showed off two gowns on Reddit, but people are torn over whether or not they're appropriate.

Reddit user Blanket Statement (u/blanket_statement-)shared her dilemma over an interesting dress code.

She posted two dress options in the group Weddingattireapproval.

It is an online community, where people come to ask if an outfit for an upcoming wedding is appropriate.

According to the Reddit user, the theme is a "garden party," but the wedding dress code is labeled "coastal grandma, light colors/floral.”

"I own both but don’t really know where to go with the theme," she wrote.

The first option was a Yellow the Label Roxie Midi Dress, $98, in, you guessed it, yellow.

The elegant slip dress had a bodice trimmed with white lace.

The second style was a Free People Theo Sweater Midi, $78, in the shade Sand Jam.

The ripped sweater knit dress was midi length with dropped armholes.

The comment section was filled with conflicting opinions.

Many people offered their opinions, and some had not-so-nice words.

"Odd dress code but I’d keep looking. The first one is too bridal and the second is casual," a reader commented.

Someone else wrote: "Everyone saying 1 is bridal has me very confused. It’s a yellow dress. I think it reads more 'lingerie' or 'date night' than bridal."

"Wow. Dress codes are really getting out of hand," another chimed in.

A critic added: "Both of these are poor choices. Sounds like you need something floral for a “costal grandma” dress code."

"First looks like a wedding dress, so hard no. The second feels too casual," another person admitted.

"Yeah definitely no to 1 which could pass for a casual wedding gown. Then again two has no shape and looks like a beach cover-up. At the very least add a belt or buy something else," another reader offered.
