Woman praised for ‘tricking’ boyfriend into eating vegan food despite him being furious when he found out the truth

ONE girlfriend has been praised for sneakily feeding her man vegan meals without his knowledge.

Her boyfriend initially loved the meals, although unaware of what was in them. When he discovered what she did he was furious

Taking to Reddit, the woman shared he story anonymously, explaining that although her boyfriend supported her diet choices, he never joined her as he was a big fan of meat.

The woman would make meals for her boyfriend when he came to her house, using meat alternatives.

She said: "When he's come over and I've made lunch or dinner it's always been vegan dishes."

Adding: "I've never tried to actively hide this from him, when he asked what we were having I'd say things like 'burgers' and I assumed that he knew it would naturally be something like impossible burgers."

After coming clean, her boyfriend was furious at her for "lying" even though he was a big fan of the food whenever he ate it.

At Christmas, the couple were unable to travel home and spent the day together and ate a vegan lasagne that the woman made.

"After dinner, we were watching some cooking show and a contestant was making something with fake meat," said the girlfriend.

Adding: "He commented how he hated when dishes pretended to be meat when it was plant-based and it was deceptive and gross and he would never eat that."

Coming clean, the woman decided to tell her boyfriend that she had fed him the same food numerous times, which he did not realise.

"When he questioned me I explained that dinner had been entirely vegan with fake meat and every time he's eaten at my place it's been a vegan dish," she said.

Adding: "He got really mad. He accused me of tricking him into eating something he found disgusting and 'forcing' my diet on him."

The woman told her boyfriend he was overreacting, and at this, he told her it would be the same if he tricked her into eating meat.

"I said it wasn't the same because I was morally opposed to eating meat but nobody was morally opposed to eating plants," she said.

Adding: "We argued some more and he left and went home. He hasn't been over since."

The woman attempted to smooth things over with her boyfriend after a few days, and it backfired.

"He wrote a few paragraphs about how betrayed he felt. He said that he hoped I understood how disappointed he felt that I would tamper with his food like that and that something like this was a serious betrayal of his trust" she said.

Adding: "He said I should have disclosed that none of the food I ever made contained meat. He finished it by saying he would come over for New Year only if I apologized for lying to him."

The post has racked up a range of comments, with many agreeing that the boyfriend is overreacting.

One person commented: "The number of times I have heard grown men say in all seriousness, “it’s not a meal if nothing bled” are many."

Another said: "It’s possible the boyfriend heard ‘vegan’ and was such a know-it-all misogynist that he didn’t request clarification on what vegan meant."
