Where did Christmas jumpers come from?
Christmas jumpers are a given as we count down to the festivities every year. And just like most traditions, they can be traced pretty far back.
According to historians, they originated in Scandinavia and Iceland in the 1890s, when hand-knitted geometric designs were worn by fishermen.
The cosy knits were then taken up on the ski slopes of Europe, before seeping into Hollywood in the 60s and 70s. By the 80s and 90s, cheesy festive knits were all the rage, though perhaps seen as slightly corny.
