Since Holly Willougby stepped back from This Morning speculation has been rife over who will be the new queen of breakfast TV.

Alison Hammond, Rochelle Humes and even the Duchess of York have seemingly thrown their hats in the ring emerging as regular faces on This Morning, Lorraine, Loose Women and Good Morning Britian.

But perhaps the outside contender is former popstar Mollie King, who with a blonde choppy bob and signature boho chic style is the spitting image of Holly.

This Morning viewers mistook Mollie for Holly  on Tuesday’s show.

The London-born Saturdays singer, 36, hosted the programme alongside Dermot O’Leary while his usual co-star Alison Hammond takes a step back from presenting to appear in a Christmas pantomime.

The Saturdays singer, 36, hosted the programme alongside Dermot O’Leary as the ITV show looks for a permanent replacement for Holly (Holly pictured right in September)

The ITV show is currently trying to find permanent replacements for Holly, who quit the show after 14 years in October, and her long-time co-star Phillip Schofield, who stepped down in May.

And it’s not the first time the pair have dressed alike.

In February 2022, Holly opted for a double breasted jacket atop a white suit for a launch party for her lifestyle brand Wylde Moon.

Launching the brand’s first fragrance, Holly, paired the look with black polka dot stilettos.

Appearing on Loose Women last month, Mollie seemed to channel Holly again, opting for a  Francesca Alice double breasted jacket and white French Connection trousers.

And it’s not just for TV, Mollie wowed at the NTAs in 2021 in a strapless white gown.

The bridal-inspired sleeveless number is very similar to a number of dresses sported by Holly while presenting Dancing on Ice.

Holly has also worn a variety of navy midi dresses while on morning TV, another favourite of the Saturdays star.

Perfection in pink! Both stars like mini pink dresses

Both stars also seem to have a penchant for pink and purple too, wearing sixties style pink mini dresses and lavender ball gowns.

A number of presenters have been taking it in turns to host This Morning since Holly’s exit, with Rochelle Humes , Rylan Clark , Josie Gibson , Craig Doyle, Cat Deeley and even Emma Willis appearing in recent weeks.

Tuning in, fans of the show claimed producers had finally managed to find Holly’s ‘doppelgänger’ with many initially thinking she had returned.

Dermot welcomed Mollie into the studio with a hug, saying: ‘It’s nice to see you, how are you?’

Mollie responded: ‘I’m good, how are you?’ before Dermot asked how long it had been since she had last been on This Morning.

Radiant in red! Both stars opt for bold colours and red ballgowns too

‘I think it was about 18 months ago, so a bit nervous but you’re going to steer this ship aren’t you?’ she admitted.

Sharing their thoughts on X (formerly known as Twitter), one person wrote: ‘Congratulations on This Morning #ITV for finding Holly’s doppelgänger.’

Another commented: ‘Just got home from work, turned on #ThisMorning and had a do a double take because I thought Holly was back.’

‘Molly king looks a bit too much like Holly today,’ someone else added.

One viewer joked: ‘Wonder if Holly is going to phone up and thank Mollie for being a great stunt double.

Holly Willoughby quit This Morning in October because the show ‘wasn’t the same’ after her co-host Phillip Schofield left but was finally ‘tipped over the edge’ by an alleged ‘kidnap and murder plot’.

Holly announced that she ‘will not be returning’ to the show in October.

She said it was an ‘honour to just be part of its story’ over the last 14 years but that she feels ‘I have to make this decision for me and my family’.

The ITV presenter, acknowledging that leaving is ‘such a difficult goodbye’, thanked the network for ‘being supportive’. She also expressed her gratitude to the ‘wonderful viewers’ that she says have been ‘loyal, so supportive and the very best company’ over the years.

Her exit from the show came after a former Pizza Hut worker was remanded in custody last week charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder Ms Willoughby.

Gavin Plumb, 36, from Harlow, Essex, is accused of offences including soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap in relation to the broadcaster.

Insiders  told MailOnline that the alleged plot pushed Holly to quit, but added that it had been in chaos since Schofield’s exit.
