Bag yourself some stylish maternity gear on the cheap with our cash-saving tips

OH, baby! Primark reopened its doors this week and unveiled an exciting new maternity range.

The collection has already gone down a storm and it seems new mums can’t get enough of it — we shared the news on Facebook and five thousand of you commented.

So, if you’re after stylish maternity gear on the cheap, here’s where to nab top togs for less . . .

PRIMARKS, SET, GO: Mums-to-be who loved Primark pre-pregnancy need to take a peep at the new Parenthood range. There are 44 items in the collection, with prices starting at £4 for a pair of seam-free leggings. One of my favourite items in the range is the Denim maternity overalls, for £17 — similar at Seraphine will set you back £59.

ALL IN A GOOD CAUSE: I really missed my local charity shop during lockdown and there’s bound to be a flood of fantastic items hitting the rails now that it’s open again. But whilst the thought of rummaging through piles of garments looking for the odd maternity item may seem unappealing, did you know that charity shops often keep maternity clothes in a separate section? Make sure you ask the staff in your local — you’re sure to find some steals.

MARKETPLACE MUST-HAVES: Many maternity items find their way on to resell sites once they’re no longer needed — with many items hardly worn. I’ve even spotted bundles of nearly-new maternity clothes being sold for cheap on Facebook Marketplace. It’s also worth checking eBay.co.uk for similar bundles, and designer items for less.

HIGH STREET HEROES: With the high street opening up again for business, make sure you check out the H&M sale. I love their MAMA range and there are some on-trend bargains for new mums to be had, including a comfy taupe hoodie for just £10, down from £19.99. I’ve also found that George at Asda is great for pretty maternity dresses at around £14, perfect for spring.

He said: “We love Thai so once lockdown is over, I’ll take Helen for a nice meal.”

Scott, who has two daughters, aged 13 and 16, adds: “Either that or a trip to Easter Road to see our beloved Hibernian FC!”
