Erin Lim may have celebrated Latinx Heritage Month with her Daily Pop family on E! earlier this week, but she’s always celebrating her heritage with her family at home.
“So I’m half Mexican. My mom is third generation Latina American from Los Angeles, so we bleed L.A. blood through and through and I loved growing up on Mexican food,” Lim told Page Six in a recent interview. “Chile verde is a dish I shared on Daily Pop [on Wednesday] that my mom used to make all the time when I was growing up.”
Lim, 29, told us that she went to her parents’ house on Tuesday so her mom and grandmother could teach her their “special recipe” with “all of the secret ingredients that they use,” but her mom’s homemade tacos are her all-time favorite dish.
“We would have friends over and she would do homemade tacos and it was — it was the best!” she gushed. “If I ever had crushes on any boys, like, they would be invited too!”
Lim, who recently got engaged to Joshua Rhodes, hopes that her viewers will be inspired to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month themselves based on the E! Daily Pop special.
“Hopefully people can continue to recognize us, 365, but hey, we’ll take a month where we get to proudly wave our flags and show everyone what it’s about!” she said. “I think it’s important for people to recognize, firstly, all cultures that make up America and Latino Hispanic culture is just so deeply ingrained and knitted into the fabric of this country. And to just celebrate our awesome culture.”
