How much Prince Harry and Meghans Californian mansion would cost to rent

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently rumoured to be eyeing up new places to live – which will leave their California mansion on the market.

Their couple have lived in their sprawling Montecito mansion since August 2020 and it's rumoured to have cost them a whooping $14.65 million (£10.5 million).

And while it's likely the couple will sell the pad, if they do decide to keep it, potential tenants would be set back £121,000 per month, working out to a huge £1.5 million per year.

Accommodation experts Luxury Hotel analysed the overall value of the home to discover how much the couple could charge every month if they decided to rent out the palatial property.

The mansion boasts nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms and spacious living areas and study rooms, as well as a separate guest house with two more bedrooms, where friends and family can stay.

The Californian estate also features a gym, a wine cellar, a swimming pool and a guesthouse and is surrounded by green gardens that include a tennis court and an open putting field.

However, Harry and Meghan are set to be moving out of their luxury LA home according to a source who claims the couple are “not over the moon” with the residence.

“They are thinking of selling their house there. However, it won't be on the market because of who they are,” an insider told The Mirror.

“It's only being shown to people who are confirmed with funds and are serious buyers.

"They want to stay in the neighbourhood or nearby but they aren't over the moon about the house and the location.”

While Harry and Meghan may not be pleased with the site of their home, the surrounding community certainly has been appealing, with Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres included as neighbours to the former Royal couple.

Before Harry and Meghan moved into the LA mansion in 2020, the property was owned by Russian businessman Sergey Grishin, who also owned the ‘Scarface mansion’ (sold on in 2015) which is located in a different spot in California.

The couple previously resided at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor – which has now been handed over to Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, providing a great home for their baby son August.

Reports of the couple’s potential move comes after Harry and Meghan shared the first image of their baby daughter Lilibet in a family photo shot by Alexi Lubomirski over the holidays.
