I survived an entire day on just £1 by downloading apps to get FREE Greggs, KFC and Krispy Kreme – this is how I did it

A TikToker has taken on a challenge where she attempts to survive for a day in the UK, spending just £1.
Shivani Khosla made a video documenting her experience, which has over 1.8million views.
Starting off at Greggs, she explained that if you download the app you get one free hot drink, as she opted for a cappuccino.
She said ‘I really wanted a sausage roll but obviously couldn’t get one, it’s too expensive.’
Next, on the hunt for lunch she went to Lidl, where she picked up the stores own-brand tin of baked beans for 28p.
Shall I make a whole series on this? #survivingonapound #moneychallenge #budgetchallenge
Showing off her find to the camera, she remarked ‘Look how cheap this was, only 28p for a can of beans.
‘Picked that up and then picked up a panini for 32p which is not bad.
‘All together that was what, like 60p for lunch? Perfect.’
Heading to Furniture Village, she added ‘Don’t know if you remember, when I was younger Furniture Village would have free coffee and cookies at the back.
‘I looked so suspicious walking around so I pretended to take pictures and be interested in buying a sofa or something.’
Upon finding the free cookies, she told viewers ‘Do you know what’s so annoying? The cookies didn’t even come in a bag so that you could take them away. I had to pick it up with my bare hand and walk straight out of the shop.’
The TikToker ate the cookie and was ‘still a bit hungry’ so she decided to go to Krispy Kreme.
She said ‘If you download the app you get one free glazed doughnut so I managed to cop that as well.

‘Krispy Kreme is underneath a Tesco so I went to Tesco to find some snacks but look how expensive Tesco branded biscuits are,’ she said, showing the 65p packet to viewers.
Adding ‘I shook my head and left. I wanted to get some work done but first I wanted to get a Starbucks coffee.
‘I dunno if this is cheating but I have some points on my card so I got an iced pumpkin spice latte for free.’
Next, she went home to do some work, before making the beans on toast for lunch.
Surprised, she said ‘I’m not gonna lie, it actually tasted all right, like normal beans.’
Making the most of another app freebie, Shivani explained If you download the KFC app, you get three hot wings for free – however, she couldn’t get it to work:
‘It wasn’t working for me but someone in my Discord kindly gifted me a free burger, but it was too hot so I ate it later.’
With 40p remaining of her £1 budget, she went to a corner shop but was put off the 6p sweets as they were ‘nasty’ and ‘open’.

Shivani finished the challenge having spent only 60p of the £1, however viewers were not impressed that she used loyalty points and app freebies.
One user wrote ‘so technically £1 and whole bunch of freebies,’ while another added ‘Kind of defeats the point when you get codes and points’.
Someone concluded ‘Basically.. you can’t survive in the UK on £1.’
One viewer chimed in with ‘Spent a pound and £40 in fuel,’ as the content creator was seen in the video driving to all of the places she visited.
Another joked ‘Free cookie but gets annoyed it doesn’t come with a bag.’
However, some found the tips helpful, writing ‘Has that always been a thing at furniture village? (free cookies), never knew about it, will try’ and ‘This is such a good idea’.
