‘I’m addicted to Brussels sprouts – I eat them multiple times every single day’

Brussels sprouts are like the Marmite of a Christmas dinner. Some people love them, many hate them and most prefer to loathe the smelly fart-inducing vegetable.

But, for this one woman, she's addicted. Yes, an 'addict' of the mighty Brussels sprouts. So much so, she's claimed that she munches on the leafy green vegetable "multiple times a day".

And Cassie, or the Brussels sprouts super fan, decided to take to TikTok to publicly air her devotion for the popular Christmas lunch accompaniment.

In the clip posted to Cassie's TikTok, she posed and lip synced over an audio that said: "This is my meal, I call this girl dinner."

She referenced the 'girl dinner' trend which took over social media this year that saw women share their picky and often random dinners.

And for Cassie, of course it included her favourite – Brussels sprouts. Alongside sushi, Cassie included a spread of a couple of plates and what looked like a whole pot of Brussels sprouts.

In the caption, she declared: "I'm addicted to Brussels sprouts I eat them multiple times every day."

We bet she loves Christmas dinner then! However, not everyone is such an avid fan of Brussels sprouts – even if they do love eating the vegetable that is part of the cabbage family.

Last year, even the biggest sprout devotees discovered that they've been saying the name of the veg wrong this entire time. One X user shared that their "entire life has felt like a lie" on realising their pronunciation faux pas. On the social media platform, the user posted: "Apparently, it's actually 'Brussels sprout' and not 'Brussel sprouts'."

So, what's the history of the veg?

Brussels sprouts were named as such after the French began calling them that all the way back in the 18th Century. Most likely, this is because they were discovered near Brussels, Belgium.

But their history goes back even further than that, there are records of the vegetable being grown near the city in the 13th Century.

Well, they do say you learn something new every day!
