Kanye West Buys Home Across The Street From Kim Kardashian To Be Closer To Kids

Kim Kardashian may have recently been declared legally single, but Kanye West hasn’t gone too far – literally – as the rapper has reportedly purchased a mansion directly across the street from the home he used to share with his estranged wife.

According to PEOPLE Magazine, Kanye spent $4.5 million on the Hidden Hills property – which was $400,000 over the initial asking price, which had been set at a little over $4 million.

An insider told the outlet that Kanye “only bought it for the location” and in hopes of making co-parenting go smoother, as it will allow their four children to easily and more regularly visit him.

Kanye reportedly has plans to tear down the existing home on the property, which was built in 1955, and replace it with something more modern. The New York Post reports the current home spans over 3,600 square feet and sits on an acre of property.

Its other features include a three-stall barn, a two-car detached garage, and an outdoor pool. The last major renovations happened in 2005 when the then-owners overhauled the kitchen.

Kanye appears to be looking to spend more time in California in the future, as he listed one of his two Wyoming ranches for $11 million late last year. The rapper purchased the property (known as Monster Lake) two years ago for $8 million. It sits on 3,800 acres.

Shortly after buying his first ranch, Kanye purchased a second, march larger property in Wyoming for $14 million, which he has not listed. The second property spans an impressive 6,700 acres.

Kanye’s new Hidden Hills property isn’t his only recent purchase in California. In September, it was reported that the musician spent a whopping $57.3 million on a Malibu property. The house is made largely of concrete and was designed by award-winning architect Tadao Ando. The home is over 3,600 square feet.

So far, Kim has not publicly commented on her estranged husband’s recent real estate purchases. Last March, it was reported that Kim would retain ownership of their Hidden Hills property – the one directly across from Kanye’s new home.

At the time, TMZ reported that Kanye hadn’t spent a lot of time at their Hidden Hills mansion prior to Kim initiating their divorce, preferring his properties in Wyoming. The pair originally bought the home for $20 million in 2014, before spending another $20 million on renovations that took multiple years.

The former couple continues to navigate their divorce proceedings. Kim has reportedly asked for joint legal and physical custody of their four children – North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1.
