Kim Kardashian’s Billion-Dollar Company SKIMS To Launch Swimwear Line

Kim Kardashian isn’t slowing down when it comes to her apparel brands SKIMS. Despite the company amassing a valuation of over a billion only a few years after its launch, SKIMS is getting ready to introduce its new line of swimsuits.

Posting to Twitter on Monday, the reality star revealed the swimsuits would be launching this coming Friday. “You’ve asked, we’ve listened @SKIMS SWIM launches this Friday, March 18 at 9AM PT,” Kim tweeted alongside a variety of photos of herself modelling the swimsuits.

The images showed Kim in a collection of solid-colored swimsuits, including one-pieces and bikinis.

Shortly after, Kim retweeted a post from Business of Fashion that included an interview the outlet did with the SKIMS founder, which released the same day as the announcement. In the interview, Kim discussed future plans for her brand, including their forthcoming swimwear launch.

The swimsuits have been featured on Kim’s social media pages before the announcement. But in the interview, she explained that she decided against tagging the brand so her followers wouldn’t realize they were expanding into swimwear.

“I even had to stop tagging [Skims], I do want there to be a nice element of surprise for it,” Kim said. “I’ve really wanted swim for a really long time.”

According to PEOPLE, the swimwear collection will include 19 separate pieces that buyers are encouraged to mix and max. They’ll be available in 7 different colors, including SKIMS signature nudes as well as blue and periwinkle hues.

Kim emphasized that the line will be inclusive and offer an extensive size range, going from a XXS to 4X. The prices will range between $32 to $108 for each piece.

SKIMS only launched in 2019 but was valued at $3.2 billion this past January. The brand increased sales by 90% in 2021 alone.

Kim isn’t the only one of her sisters to venture into the world of swimwear recently. In September, her younger sister Kylie Jenner launched her new business Kylie Swim. It featured several bikinis and one-pieces in bold patterns and colors.

Despite Kylie’s success with companies likes Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin, the swimwear line received backlash almost immediately. Many customers complained the swimsuits were poor quality, posting photos of loose threads and see-through material online. Others complained that the swimwear didn’t offer enough coverage and wasn’t practical.

Here’s to hoping that Kim’s SKIMS swimwear is better received than the first line of Kylie Swim.
