December is merely days away, and if you haven’t already cracked out the Christmas decorations then now is the perfect time to start getting your home feeling a little more festive.
Amongst the tinsel and garlands, no home is truly Christmas-ready without a fabulous candle of two, and for years The White Company’s Winter Indulgence Botanical candle,£95 here, has been considered the ultimate centrepiece for your table setting.
Its gigantic size and festive, fruit and botanical-filled design means it's a guaranteed showstopper, and its cinnamon, clove and orange scent is the ultimate embodiment of festive fragrances. It has six wicks to create a cosy atmosphere, and the outer shell doesn’t burn down, meaning you never lose the gorgeous yule-inspired design.
However, £95 is more than a little bit pricey for something you’re quite literally going to set alight, which is why shoppers were thrilled when they discovered Lidl does its very own version – for £70 less.
The Luxury Botanical Festive Spice Fragranced Candle is just £25 in Lidl’s famed middle aisle, and has an almost identical appearance to The White Company’s luxury version, complete with orange slices, berries and botanicals encased in the wax outer, with a festive red ribbon tied around it.
The amazing find was posted in theExtreme Couponing and Bargains UK groupon Facebook, with the bargain hunter writing: “Lidl Large festive winter candle £25. Very similar to the white company and John Lewis ones that are £95 and £63.”
After commenters also revealed they’d spotted almost identical ones in Aldi as well, the user updated her post, writing: “Edit – apparently Aldi have them too.”
As you can’t shop the Lidl or Aldi candles online, you’ll have to race down to your nearest store to get your hands on one before they sell out. However, if you don’t have a store near you or have been unlucky enough to miss out on your latest visit, there are plenty of other affordable alternatives out there.
Dunelm has a three wick Traditional Wax Inclusion Multi Wick Candle, £18 here, that bares a striking resemblance to The White Company’s smaller version £45, whilst ASDA’s White Festive Spice Botanical Pillar Candle, £6 here, is a single wick pillar version that would be fantastic as part of a display.
John Lewis also offers a more high-end version that’s not quite as pricey as The White Company’s, with its Extra Large Winter Spice Inclusion Scented Candle, £63.75 here, also having six wicks and a super-sized design.
With Christmas being one of the most expensive times of the year, we’re all about finding clever ways to save money without having to sacrifice on your perfect festive set up!
