As of today, January 5, the McDonald's McPlant burger will be available in every restaurant across the UK and Ireland.
The fast food chain's first plant-based burger was successfully trialled in over 250 restaurants last year – and now you can officially get your hands on one.
The juicy burger, which Daily Star tried in September 2021, features a patty co-developed with Beyond Meat.
Until now, the only option for non-meat eaters was the veggie dippers, which could be served in a deluxe burger, wrap on on their own.
Now those who are craving a burger will be able to get their fix at the fast food chain.
What is the McPlant burger made of?
The burger took three years to develop, and features vegan cheese based on pea protein that is designed to take "just like" McDonald's iconic cheese slices.
You'll also find the new vegan sandwich sauce, a vegan sesame bun, mustard, onions, pickles, ketchup, lettuce and tomatoes.
The burger itself is made using ingredients including pea protein, rapeseed oil, coconut oil, potato starch, rice protein, stabiliser, flavouring and water.
The McPlant will be joining the menu for veganuary, and vegans will be happy to learn that it is being cooked separate from all other McDonald's products, using dedicated utensils.
The burger costs £3.49 and contains 420 calories.
McDonald's McPlant launch
Michelle Graham-Clare, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s UK and Ireland said: "We’re so pleased that our McPlant is now officially ‘everywhere’ and available for more of our customers to taste and enjoy.
"We saw a remarkable response to the trial period back in October and now McPlant is on the high-street, in retail parks and service stations all over the UK and Ireland so all of our customers will be able to try it.
"We’re proud to once again be offering our customers more great-tasting options from McDonald’s. It’s our same iconic taste – but plant-based."
To celebrate the #McPlantIsEverywhere the fast food restaurant was sampled by celebrities from all corners of the country.
Podcast queen Rosie Ramsey sampled the burger on the remote Northumberland shoreline, while Corrie legend Simon Gregson tasted the new addition in Manchester City Centre.
Boxing legend Lawrence Okolie could also be seen sampling the McPlant in London.
