Morrisons NHS discount was first introduced back in April and has since been extended twice. Following a steep increase in coronavirus cases and many areas going into stricter lockdowns, Morrisons has decided to extend the discount again. As we head into winter, the supermarket giant aims to support 1.5million NHS staff through the cold weather.
Morrisons was one of the first supermarkets to introduce an NHS discount back in April and the decision to extend this comes after the UK has seen a rise in coronavirus cases.
As well as receiving a discount in-store, NHS workers are also able to make use of the deal whilst ordering a grocery shop through the website.
NHS staff can get 10 percent off their shop in-store or online with their valid work ID.
If customers plan to shop online, they must sign up to the Morrisons NHS Club to receive the discount off their shop.
Morrisons Chief Executive, David Potts, said: “We want to continue to support all those in the National Health Service and show our appreciation for the fearless work they undertake daily.
“We hope alongside our other measures, showing can be a little easier for our vital NHS staff.”
NHS staff can also benefit from quieter shopping hours at the beginning of each day to help them do their food shop quicker and quieter.
This runs every day between 6am and 7am but on Sundays, the majority of stores open at 9am for NHS workers to shop.

Staff who can make use of the discount should check their local stores opening times.
When visiting a Morrisons store, there are guidelines that customers must adhere to whether they are NHS staff or not.
In the UK, it is mandatory to wear a face mask when shopping.
If customers forget their mask when shopping in a Morrisons store, there will be staff at the entrance offering free face masks to those without one.
Morrisons are also managing their checkout queues in order to help customers complete their shopping trip safely and as quickly as possible.
Customers who are doing a smaller shop with only a basket, can gain quicker entry into the store.
Three customers who are carrying a basket to do a smaller shop can enter for every one person with a trolley.
The supermarket is also encouraging customers to shop on their own and leave other members of their family at home or outside the store.
They also have a queuing system outside where necessary where shoppers should remember to socially distance with the other customers.
For customers who cannot get to store or those who may be self-isolating, Morrisons recently extended their next day doorstep food delivery service to ensure its shoppers are receiving the essential food items they need.
With many supermarkets having little to no delivery slots available, Morrisons ensures that the food is delivered the following day between 10am and 6pm.
With the service previously only being available for the elderly and vulnerable, the supermarket has extended this to all of their customers who are self-isolating.
When placing an order over the phone, customers can choose from a menu which has a list of essential grocery items like milk, butter, eggs, potatoes, pasta, bananas and flour.
On delivery, customers can pay via a mobile chip and pin device with the standard delivery being £4.50.
There is no delivery charge for elderly and vulnerable shoppers.
Those who are self-isolating and in need of an emergency grocery delivery need to phone 0345 611 6111 and select option five.
David Potts, Morrisons Chief Executive said: “The ‘Doorstep Delivery’ service has been a lifeline to many of our customers who can talk to an actual person and order their essential groceries.
“We are playing our full part in feeding the nation and ensuring those that are most in need can receive a delivery from Morrisons.”
