A mum accidentally put her baby up for sale with the caption “need gone today”.

Lucy Battle, from Burnley, was mortified when she accidentally uploaded a picture of her tot.

In her local Facebook group, the 20-year-old offered up her old sofa to anyone who wanted it.

But as well as posting snaps of the couch, she included one of seven month old Oscar.

Lucy told Leeds Live: "I just somehow managed to upload the wrong photo when I was choosing them from my camera roll and unfortunately it was of Oscar!

"It worked out though because one of the messages was someone actually enquiring about the sofa! But most of them were people making jokes about me giving away my son. I didn't expect it to go so far!"

Hundreds of people hopped onto Lucy’s post to make jokes about her mistake.

One commenter joked: “Can I swap for a teenager?”

Another said: “How’s he at washing up?”

And a third laughed: “What’s he like with other babies?”

After realising her mistake, Lucy clarified that she meant the sofa rather than Oscar.

"Thanks all for being nice though and understanding this was a genuine mistake," she wrote.

"I don't want to give away my child."

This isn't the only Facebook Marketplace fail to go viral.

Previously, a woman posted dirty texts on her social media page instead of snaps of her sofa.

And earlier this year, a man tried to sell his mirror online but buyers were distracted by his rude reflection.
