A mum transformed her step daughter’s dirty coat with cheap household items.
She used a £1 spray, affordable mildew remover and dishwasher tablet to transform the clothing item, before sharing the results on Facebook.
The woman told the Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It group: “I just wanted to share my parenting hack with you
“My partner’s daughters mum had washed the coat a few times with no luck…
“So other than it being a playing out coat I thought I had nothing to lose and would try it out my way.
“If it didn’t work we was going to get a new coat today for school tomorrow.”

To get the dirt off the coat, the mum used Elbow Grease All Purpose Spray.
This cheap product can be snapped up from Asda, Poundshop or The Range for £1.
The Facebook user revealed: “So I first sprayed it with Elbow Grease and waited for that to soak in.”
She then used mildew remover to budge any mud-related mess.
You can purchase one of these products – a Dettol Antibacterial Mould & Mildew Remover Spray – for £3.50 from Tesco.
The parent then put the coat in the wash with a dishwasher tablet instead of a laundry pod.
She added: “Then tested a small area with mould and mildew remover and it didn’t mark the coat or take the colour out of it as it has peroxide in it.
“So then I decided to spray the whole coat with mould and mildew remover put a dishwasher tablet in the washing machine and put it on a 90° wash.
“The coat now looks brand-new and I’ve brushed the fur on the hood when it came out.
“Saved us a small fortune for a new coat.”
The entire process costs around £5, which is much cheaper than replacing the coat.
Parents can’t get enough of the cleaning hack .
More than 1,000 of them have liked the post – and many praised the mum for her idea.
One commenter remarked: “That is seriously impressive!”
Another said: “Wow. Looks great!”
And a third added: “Brilliant. It's turned out beautiful.”
