My pregnant partner's anxiety attacks are getting out of control | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner is eight weeks pregnant and suffers from anxiety and panic attacks, for which she has medication.

But one night she was having such a bad attack that she left our bed and went and slept on the sofa, saying she wanted to be alone.

I followed her into the lounge to try to talk to her, but she just shouted and screamed at me when I tried to cuddle her.

I am 30 and my partner is 27 and we have been together for two years.

I later heard her on the phone talking to her mum.

She was crying, saying she wanted to go to hospital.

It worried me because I don’t want to lose our baby.

I tried again to talk to her but now she’s insisting that I leave her alone and stop stressing her out.

DEIDRE SAYS: Everyone feels anxious sometimes and it’s common in pregnancy, but some find it hard to control their worries.

She needs to talk to her GP again, and also her midwife.

Anxiety and panic attacks are usually treated using self-help treatments based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
