With the increased cost of living and the prices of festive food sky-rocketing, getting Christmas chocolates for all the family may be difficult on a budget this December.
Earlier this month, it was revealed confectionery giants Nestle, Mars, Incorporated and Cadbury have slimmed down their chocolate tubs by up to 17 per cent in the last five years.
However, there is a little-known UK online retailer where you can get your hands on Christmas chocolates for up to 50 per cent less.
Approved Food – a business based in Dodworth, South Yorkshire – largely sells products that are either near or have just passed its ‘best before’ date.
However, the items are still within their ‘use by’ date, meaning they are still safe to eat.

Kingsbridge Chocolate Marshmallow Milk Hot Chocolate Spoons are just £1 each or four for £3.
In contrast, the sweet treats retail for £2 each on the high street – meaning customers can bag a 50 per cent discount by shopping online.
For a pack of five, it’s £5, down from £9.99.
The site boasts the Lindt Lindor Milk and White Chocolate Christmas Selection Gift Box for just £5.99, when it’s usually £7.50 or more in stores.
What’s more, the box’s best before date is actually February 2024, making it an ideal festive treat.
Meanwhile, Holdsworth Chocolates Truly Scrumptious Assorted Cube is just £4.99 – which is £4 cheaper than its usual retail price.

Savvy shoppers will be delighted that it’s not just sweet treats on offer, other Christmas goodies are also available.

It comes after several UK supermarkets have supported the Mail on Sunday’s War on food Waste campaign and removed best before dates from a variety of products, including milk.
