SHOPPERS have criticised Sainsbury’s after spotting a change to a popular booze deal in the run-up to Christmas.
Customers at the supermarket now have to spend more to qualify for its 25% off six bottles of wine offer.
Sainsbury's has changed the offer so that only bottles over £6 are eligible for the reduction – rather than the previous entry price of £5.
It means dozens of £5 wines are excluded from the deal, including Hardys Stamp Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, Laughing Llama Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay and Black Tower Rosé.
House wines which typically cost around £5 were already excluded.
Shoppers buying six £6 wines must pay £27 to get a £9 discount now.

Sainsbury's quietly axes key service in all stores – and shoppers are fuming
Previously they could get six £5 bottles for £22.50, for a £7.50 reduction.
That means the total cost with discount is at lease £18, compared to £15 before.
Disappointed shoppers have complained to Sainsbury's about their favourite wines no longer being included in the deal.
One said on X (formerly Twitter): "Good news, six wines or more get 25% off now, the bad news is it NO longer includes Clearsprings, which is £5.80 a bottle and below the £6 threshold.

"Solution – just put it up by 20p so we can then get 25% off !!"
Deborah Cameron complained: "Was mugged off by Sainsbury's AGAIN last weekend.
"Suckered into buying six bottles of wine to get 25% off, only to discover that they’ve moved the goal posts.
"Two of my usual bottles had been reduced to under £6, thereby under the new lower limit for the offer…"
Another fumed: "I have just visited Sainsbury’s Belfast and the 25% off six bottles of wine now only applies to wine of £6.
"There really should be a large notice telling customers this as it’s its in minute writing on a banner three feet above you!
“I had to put the wine back."
A charity worker added: "Appalling signs Sainsbury's for the 25% off wine. Apparently it's only Taste The Difference wine. Signs are not clear. Disgraceful."
The change is understood to have happened around July, when the offer ran for five days.
The store frequently runs the deal, and currently has it ongoing until October 31.
The £6 threshold applies to customers in England, in Wales it's £7, and Scotland is excluded, as it has separate rules that ban multi-buy deals on alcohol.
Asda offers a similar 25%t off deal on wines costing £5.50 or more, with gift sets, fortified wines and meal deal wines excluded.
Tesco’s 25% off six bottles of wines excludes bottles under £5.50 in England or £7 in Wales, and is only available to people with a Clubcard.
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Earlier this year we slightly updated the threshold for our Buy 6 save 25% promotion.
"Customers can still choose from an extensive selection, which includes the vast majority of our wines.”
It's not the only change people are up in arms about.
