November is here, which means Halloween is over and Maria Carey is busy warming up her vocals, so it’s time to turn our attention to the next big event – Christmas.
Although Christmas Day is still a little under two months away, it’s no secret that the festivities start from the very first day of December, including the much-loved Christmas Jumper Day, which this year falls on December 7.
Although you still have plenty of time to get your hands on a festive knit ready for the seasonal event, there’s no time like the present to find the perfect one and avoid the disappointment of missing out on one you really love.
Whether you prefer to keep it traditional or love a good novelty knit, we’ve found some of the best Christmas jumpers around to help prepare you for a whole month of festive fun.
One of the biggest movies of the year was Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which spawned a whole host of trends of its own – the most obvious of which is Barbiecore.
We may have hung up our pink-coloured everything in favour of a more neutral autumn wardrobe, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate one of the best films of the year this Christmas, with the Barbie Christmas Jumper, £31.95 here.
Coming in Barbie’s iconic pink hue with a festive red and white pattern and Barbie slogan on the front, it’s the perfect way to embrace Barbiecore once again in a more seasonally appropriate way.
It even has glitter threads running through it to add a little bit of extra Christmas sparkle, with one reviewer saying: “Nice quality acrylic material. It’s a longer fit and roomy for sure. Already had loads of compliments and it’s not even the holiday season yet!”
If you prefer a more subtle nod to Barbie’s pink glittery colour scheme, New Look’s Petite Pink Knit Sequin Christmas Pudding Jumper, £22.99 here, checks all the boxes with its bubblegum pink colour and sequin-covered christmas puddings and candy cane pattern.
You can also stick to a more traditional style but with festive pink, red and green colours thanks to Boohoo’s ‘Tis the Season Christmas Jumper, £16 here (was £20), for a trending update on a classic style.
If all-out traditional is more your style, FatFace’s Family Reindeer Christmas Jumper, £59 here, looks like it’s come straight out of a classic holiday movie thanks to its traditional red and white reindeer and snowflake print, whilst its 45% wool material will make sure you stay warm and cosy this Christmas.
River Island has also got a more timeless take on the festive sweater, with its retro-style Cream Christmas Jumper, £35 here, emblazoned with mini Christmas trees and ‘Merry Christmas’ written across it. The perfect option to go with everything, you can wear it with jeans during the day or layered over your favourite satin midi skirt for cosy festive dinners.
Finally, M&S has come through with a less obvious version of the Christmas jumper thanks to its Recycled Blend Sequin Spot Print Jumper, £29.50 here, which comes in either red or white and features oversized sequin-covered polka dots on the front. Are they snowballs? Baubles? Or simply a glitzy pattern? It’s the perfect way to do festive without being too literal.
Whatever your Christmas jumper style, don’t forget to nab yours in time for Christmas Jumper Day on December 7!
