Anthony Joshua takes Ricky Hatton's prospect son Campbell under wing as 19-year-old signs with champ's management firm

ANTHONY JOSHUA has snapped up the fighting son of British boxing legend Ricky Hatton.

The WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion of the world is also head of his 258 management firm and has swooped for the 19-year-old Campbell ahead of his debut.

AJ already guides the careers of rising stars like Lawrence Okolie, who has a cruiserweight world title shot on March 20, and light-heavy ace Joshua Buatsi and has found space on the roster for the Manchester teen.

Two-weight icon Ricky, who handed his boy’s training duties over to his brother and ex-European champ Matthew, hopes the team can bring glory days back to the area.

The 42-year-old Hitman, who is training his own stable of young fighters, is already doing a great job in letting his boy walk his own path

The Man City super-fan said: “Campbell’s dream is to bring another world boxing title back to Manchester.

“The dream is obviously in Campbell’s hands and ultimately it’s down to him, but given time that’s what he’ll do.

“As his manager & his father my job is to get the best possible team behind him to give him the best chance possible.”

Father-of-one Campbell, who delighted Ricky with a granddaughter in 2018, can now lean on two one of the nation’s favourite retired fighters and their current heavyweight hero ahead of his pro debut.

He said: “My dad has done a brilliant job at guiding me so far and I will continue to seek his advice, as well as work in the gym with my uncle Matthew.

“I cannot wait for the first bell on March 6”.

AJ’s efforts to land an undisputed decider with WBC king Tyson Fury this year will be taking up all of his time.

But SunSport understands the Watford hero keeps up to date with all of his proteges in a WhatsApp group where he is always on hand to offer advice.
