Arsenal legend Paul Merson's 'cooking' with perfect response to Spurs troll as fans say 'he's rattled an entire fanbase' | The Sun

PAUL MERSON was hailed by fans for “cooking” with his perfect response to a Tottenham troll.

And many were gushing “he’s rattled an entire fanbase”.

Arsenal legend Merson was one of the few pundits backing Chelsea to triumph against Ange Postecoglou’s title hopefuls on Monday night.

An incredible clash in North London saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side emerge victorious, with Nicolas Jackson netting a late hat-trick for a 4-1 win.

The game was halted numerous times to deal with various VAR decisions as goals on both sides were ruled out.

And Spurs ended the game with nine men after Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were shown red cards.

Merson was certainly in good spirits after the final whistle – and it's not surprisning as he is actually a Blues fan.

The former forward had stuck his neck on the line by previously claiming Chelsea would get a result against their fierce rivals.

The Blues have struggled for consistency this term and many had Spurs down as the clear favourites.

Indeed, one Tottenham fan last week insisted that Merson had to “retire” should Chelsea lose the match.

They said: “When we beat Chelsea, Paul Merson needs to retire as a pundit.”

But after the Blues bagged all three points, Merson delivered a triumphant riposte to the troll.

He said: “You will have to put up with me 4-1 more year at least.”

Fans loved Merson’s withering putdown, with one saying: “Merse rattling the whole Spurs fanbase.”

Another declared: “Gotta admit, I didn’t know you cook so well and your food tastes so delicious.”

One noted: “Cook Chef Merse, tell ‘em to.”

Another added: “Paul cooking the great bottlers.”
