    NO GUNNERS?

No Arsenal players are expected to start for England against Hungary tonight.

    Here is SunSport's predicted line-up:

    AL OVER

Alexandre Lacazette has NO intentions of signing a new deal at Arsenal, according to reports.

The French striker is out-of-contract at the end of the season, and can leave on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old has fallen out of Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans at the Emirates and stuck on the bench.

And Football London claim he is NOT willing to pen fresh terms, and is happy to wait out the remainder of his deal.

However, Arsenal could cash in on him during the January window, and sell him for a small fee.

      IN A ROWE

Rhian Brewster's disastrous year hit a new low as he was sent off – but England were saved by Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe.

Lee Carsley’s Young Lions were making heavy weather of the low-ranked opponents out on the same plastic pitch Gareth Southgate’s seniors dispatched Andorra 5-0 on Saturday.

Their task was made even tougher when Brewster was shown a second yellow for an alleged elbow on captain Eric Vales while attempting to control a high ball.

Vales went down like he had been shot and Brewster, who had missed a huge chance moments before, was left raging as he was dismissed.

There was a genuine fear at that point England would lose their first qualifier in ten years.

But in the end they took all three points as Arsenal man Smith Rowe finished off a rapid counter-attack by firing home his first goal at this level.

      EMILE TICKET

Nigel Winterburn says Arsenal should build a successful team around young English stars Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

He told PaddyPower: “Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are two players Arsenal won’t want to lose or have injured for extended periods.

“Smith Rowe was left out of a game a few weeks ago which surprised me because his influence on the pitch is significant.

“Arsenal want to build around all those young players. They’ve got partnerships forming and the more they play together, the more they get a sense of winning games and the stronger that team bond becomes.

“I don’t see why Arsenal wouldn’t build the team around them and complement them by bringing in players that are strong for the future.”

      GOOD MORNING ARSENAL FANS

Arsenal are interested in Todd Cantwell as he gets close to the end of his current deal at Norwich, report Fichajes.

The report says he doesn’t want to keep getting relegated with them and is now targeting a free transfer to a top club.

At 23, he fits the profile of players Arsenal have signed recently and the Gunners could win the race for his signature.

In other transfer news, Kevin Campbell believes Arsenal should not sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Campbell said on Highbury Squad: “I just think that we know that we are going to be a bit short in midfield.

"If we can get a permanent signing, that’s what we want, but if we can’t get a permanent signing in, then we get a loan signing.

“The Ox, for me, obviously he has been at Liverpool, he suffered injuries like he did at Arsenal a lot of the time, hardly plays.

“When he has played, he has looked pretty lively in Liverpool’s team, but how many games does he play a season?

“We have been down that road, it’s not the road we go down anymore. Definitely not.”

And in keeping with the transfer theme, Mikel Arteta has told Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham that Youssef En-Nesyri is good enough to be the leading force in the club’s attacking trident, according to ABC Sevilla.

En-Nesyri is reportedly on Arsenal’s radar ahead of the January transfer window after establishing himself as one of Sevilla’s prized assets during his time in Spain.

Arsenal are said to be keen admirers of En-Nesyri amid the uncertainty surrounding the immediate futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

      WELL UP FOR IT

Arsenal are interested in Todd Cantwell as he gets close to the end of his current deal at Norwich, report Fichajes.

The report says he doesn’t want to keep getting relegated with them and is now targeting a free transfer to a top club.

At 23, he fits into the profile of the players that Arsenal has signed recently and the Gunners could win the race for his signature.

The report says Mikel Arteta remains keen on reducing the average age of his squad and that explains why he has spent much of his transfer budget on the likes of Martin Odegaard and Albert Sambi Lokonga.

      'ONE OF THE BEST'

Lionel Messi has claimed former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is one of the greatest in the world.

The 29-year-old, now at Aston Villa, spent eight years at Arsenal before filling in for the injured Bernd Leno during the 2019/20 season where he was instrumental in winning the FA Cup.

Messi said: "When they come to him, he always responds.

"The truth is that, once again, he established himself after the Copa America.

“We have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, without a doubt. We take advantage of it.”

      'DEFINITELY NOT'

Kevin Campbell believes Arsenal should not sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Campbell said on Highbury Squad: “I just think that we know that we are going to be a bit short in midfield. If we can get a permanent signing, that’s what we want, but if we can’t get a permanent signing in, then we get a loan signing.

      SMITH ROWE THE HERO

England under-21's were saved by Emile Smith Rowe, who scored the winner against Andorra under-21's.

      NOU TARGET

Arsenal are reportedly interested in making a swoop for AFC Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui, who will be out of contract at the end of the season.

According to a report from Spanish publication Fichajes, Premier League bigwigs Arsenal are keeping their sights on AFC Ajax’s Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui over a summer move.

Mazraoui started out at the Alphense academy before making the switch to Ajax’s youth setup in 2006.

The defender made his first-team debut for the Dutch giants in 2018 and has since been a regular in the side for the most part, making 113 appearances so far, scoring nine goals and setting up eight more.

      ODE TO JOY

Martin Keown had doubts over Arsenal signing Martin Odgeaard but he feels the midfielder is just getting started after a good start since signing permanently in the summer.

Keown told BBC that Odegaard has had “a good start.”

He said: “Odegaard is just starting out in his career. He hardly played for Real Madrid.

"I do feel the environment needed to improve at Arsenal when you think about what was happening with [Mesut] Ozil, a lot of power there and not the greatest of role models.

“Odegaard is in a dressing room now where he feels he’s got the right environment to work in and I think that’s good as well.”

      OX MOVE

Arsenal writer Charles Watts has explained why the club may look into signing former player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan this January.

SunSport revealed the Gunners are interested in signing the midfielder on loan with the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

And talking on his YouTube channel, Watts said: “Personally, for me, I don’t think it’s one that Arsenal should really be looking at.

“Potentially, I can see why they would be looking into it in January, with [Mohamed] Elneny and [Thomas] Partey potentially leaving for what, a month or so, with the Africa Cup of Nations, there is potentially some opportunities there in midfield.

“So maybe that’s what they’re looking at – to potentially fill the gap when those two players leave.”

      'A LEVEL ABOVE'

AFC Bournemouth star Jaidon Anthony has claimed that Arsenal attacker Reiss Nelson, who is out on loan, is one of the most talented players to come through the academy in recent years.

In an interview with Goal, the EFL attacker lauded the 21-year-old winger. Anthony was part of the same age group as Nelson at Arsenal, with Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah also part of that talented generation.

The Bournemouth youngster said: “Reiss Nelson was also a level above. We also went to tournaments with Joe Willock in our team.

"So there was so much talent in the academy at that time. Looking back, I definitely feel it was a special generation.”

      YOUNG GUNS

Nigel Winterburn says Arsenal can build a successful team around young English stars Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

And Gunners legend Winterburn, 57, believes the exciting duo are now cornerstones in Mikel Arteta’s in-form side.

England regular Saka, 20, and Three Lions Under-21 star Smith Rowe, 21, both have two goals and one assist from midfield so far this season for an Arsenal side which has won four of their last five games.

And former left-back Winterburn, who made 440 appearances for the club, insists both are vital if they are to challenge for titles again.

He told PaddyPower: “Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe are two players Arsenal won’t want to lose or have injured for extended periods.

“Smith-Rowe was left out of a game a few weeks ago which surprised me because his influence on the pitch is significant.

“Arsenal want to build around all those young players. They’ve got partnerships forming and the more they play together, the more they get a sense of winning games and the stronger that team bond becomes.

      'RUNNING OUT OF CHANCES'

Kevin Campbell has warned Gabriel Martinelli that he needs to start proving he is good enough to play for Arsenal.

The former Gunners striker suggests the Brazilian must take his chances this season or falling down the pecking order.

Campbell believes his former team should be looking to sign young English talent with Alexandre Lacazette likely on his way out and Martinelli yet to prove he has what it takes to succeed in North London.

Campbell told Football Insider: “Martinelli is only 20. He is still learning his trade. Arsenal cannot do wrong by signing a top, young international striker like Watkins or Calvert-Lewin.

“Lacazette will not be there next season. Martinelli will get his opportunities. The key is taking them.

“Nobody has time anymore. You will not get picked just because you are a young player who needs experience.

"You need to be doing the business to get on. Martinelli has to take his chance when it comes. That has been the case in football ever since I was a kid.

“There aren’t as many games this season with no European football so when the chance comes it is massively important that you make the most of it.”

      RAY OF HOPE?

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya following his impressive start to life in the Premier League.

The Gunenrs could be in need of a new goalkeeper soon with speculation Bernd Leno could leave the club after being ousted as no 1 goalkeeper.

But Raya is keeping his cards close to his chest.

When asked about a potential transfer he told Cadena Ser: “I’m happy at the club.

“I want to have a good season this year. We’ll see what happens in the summer. My ambitions are great, I’d like to play at the top. You always want to play for big clubs.”

      GUNNER SIGN?

Mikel Arteta has told Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham that Youssef En-Nesyri is good enough to be the leading force in the club's attacking trident, according to ABC Sevilla.

Arsenal are said to be keen admirers of En-Nesyri amid the uncertainty surrounding the immediate futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Lacazette will be out of contract at the end of the season and is not expected to sign fresh terms in north London, meaning he is likely to leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang will be in the same boat a year later and could be sold ahead of next season in order for Arsenal to recoup a fee for his services.

      'GOOD PRESSURE'

Arsenal youngster William Saliba is happy he decided to move on loan to Marseille this season.

The defender is enjoying the pressure that comes with playing for a big club and it should stand him in good stead for when he attempts to break into the Arsenal first-team.

Speaking to L'Equipe, he said: "We made a big start to the season, even if the last three games were not positive with two defeats in Ligue Un.

"We will come back to try to win. I was very well received by my teammates, the supporters.

"For me, it’s a very good choice, it’s the right club, with very good pressure. At my young age, it’s good to play in a stadium like this."
