Luis Rubiales has resigned as President of the Spanish Football Federation following weeks of controversy.
Rubiales has faced considerable critcism after he kissed Jenni Hermoso following Spain’s victory against England in the Women’s World Cup final.
He initially announced that he would not step down despite calls to do so, but he has now announced his resignation in an exclusive interview with Piers Morgan.
Rubiales said: ‘I am going to [resign], because I cannot continue my work.
‘I spoke with my daughters and they know it is not a question about me. They say I have to focus on my dignity and my life.

Rubiales was also seen grabbing his crotch in the moments after the final ended, but was initially reluctant to give up his role.
He claimed he was a victim of a ‘political and media lynching’ and was ‘advancing feminism’ in a statement.
