Chelsea fans bemused as #LampardOut trends on Twitter after just one friendly draw in charge

CHELSEA fans were left in hysterics when hashtag #LampardOut made it to the top of Twitter trends this morning.

It came after new Blues boss Frank Lampard drew his first game in charge against Bohemians last night.

Eric Molloy made it 1-1 in the 89th minute, cancelling out Michy Batshuayi's first-half opener in Dublin.

Lampard, 41, tinkered with the squad heavily, giving youth a chance to shine against Bohemians.

Young defenders Marc Guehi and Dujon Sterling looked particularly impressive before the new Chelsea gaffer changed his team completely at half-time.

But as the late equaliser rattled the net, chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" towards Lamps were heard from the home crowd.

And the Stamford Bridge hero had to wake up to a bizarre outpouring of tweets calling for him to be sacked.

Chelsea fans, however, quickly took to social media to defend Lampard.

Osuncorper wrote: "Just one pre-season match and you guys are saying #LampardOut, let the season begin first."

While S.J.M. said: "I knew Lampard wasn't gonna be good enough for Chelsea, but this hashtag after only his first game in charge is a bit harsh."

Mr Dahyor was even more upset and tweeted: "You call yourself a fan of Chelsea, and you’re one of those supporting that nonsense, you’re just a plastic fan (not one of us)."

And Liam simply wrote: "Whoever managed to get #LampardOut trending has completed Twitter."

While Harley came up with a theory on who is to blame for the hashtag, and said: "I’m sure it’s Arsenal fans that started this #LampardOut."
