Conte wants defender, midfielder and attacker to improve starting XI in January transfer window with four stars targeted | The Sun

TOTTENHAM could be set for a frantic January transfer window with Antonio Conte reportedly identifying four transfer targets.

There could be several outgoings in North London too as Spurs re-shape their squad for the second half of the season.

Tottenham signed seven players in the summer transfer window for a total outlay of around £150million, but of those additions only Ivan Perisic has been a regular starter.

As a result Conte is believed to be targeting upgrades in defence, midfield and attack according to The Times.

One player the Italian reportedly has his eye on is Juventus star Weston McKennie, 24.

Spurs were linked to the midfielder last January and again over the summer with the Italian outfit possibly open to letting him leave.

Conte also remains keen on his former player Alessandro Bastoni, 23, despite Inter Milan rejecting Spurs' advances for the centre-back in June.

Spurs are believed to be plotting a £43million move for the Italian in January but he could take some persuading.

The same could be said of Everton winger Anthony Gordon who revealed he is happy at Goodison Park after Spurs and Chelsea showed interest in the summer.

Nevertheless Tottenham appear to be preparing a bid for the 21-year-old and also like the look of RB Leipzig defender Mohamed Simakan, 20.

But to add quality to the side Tottenham may need to offload some fringe players such as Djed Spence and Japhet Tanganga, who could both leave on loan.

Bryan Gil could also be set for another temporary move away after joining Valencia on loan last season.

The winger was on the verge of rejoining the LaLiga side on a loan deal in the summer before Spurs pulled out of the deal.
