Jade, you will not be receiving this rose – or $1 million.
Worse than a heartbreak narrated by Chris Harrison on ABC on a Monday night, former “Bachelor” contestant Jade Roper – who appeared on Season 19 of The Bachelor and met her husband, Tanner Tolbert, on the spin-off Bachelor in Paradise – has been stripped of the $1 million prize she won for coming in first place during DraftKings’ Millionaire Maker contest during wild-card weekend of the NFL playoffs.
Shortly after Roper’s win became public, other daily fantasy users noticed she and Tolbert may have violated the rules by “pooling” their entries. Theoretically, two (or more) individuals can skirt around the limit of 150 entries per person by submitting lineups that have very few, if any, players in common – thus increasing their chances of having the winning combination.
It’s not illegal, but it is a loophole. DraftKings opened an investigation shortly after the whispers of collusion began circulating and on Saturday, the company said in a statement it had “updated the standings of several contests.” One of those was Roper’s top entry, with a new player now listed as the $1 million winner.
“All customers affected by the updated standings will be notified directly. It is our general policy not to comment further on such matters.”
Alan Milstein, who represented the user, confirmed “spclk36” was the new winner.
Accordingly, every other entry in the contest moved up one spot.
