ERIK TEN HAG reportedly went against Manchester United chiefs by signing Sergio Reguilion on deadline day.
Reguilion was one of the last-minute signings on September 1st including Altay Bayindir, Jonny Evans and Sofyan Amrabat.
According to The Athletic, the United hierarchy advised the Dutch boss to promote from within instead of recruiting Reguilion in response to Luke Shaw's injury.
The report claims Ten Hag "wanted a replacement with Premier League experience."
Despite this, the United chiefs advocated for youngster Alvaro Fernandez to get a chance for first-team play.
Shaw's injury meant the Manchester United boss was desperate to find a first-choice left-back replacement.

Reguilion's arrival will bolster Ten Hag's options for the early part of this Premier League campaign.
The 20-year-old had a remarkable season at Preston North End on loan last year.
