Premier League: Live score, team news and updates as Jarrod Bowen equalises for West Ham against Tottenham after Cristian Romero opener, while Everton score THREE late goals to climb out of the drop zone
Follow Mail Sport’s live blog for the latest scores, team news and updates as Everton take on Newcastle United and Tottenham host West Ham in Premier League action.
FULL TIME: Everton 3-0 Newcastle
Twenty days after being put in the bottom three, Everton are back out of it and the crowd at Goodison Park is buzzing.
Newcastle looked and played like a team that has been plagued with injury issues but it was a fantastic performance from Everton.
A night to forget for Trippier who gave the ball away twice for goals from McNeil and Doucoure, before Beto put the icing on the cake with his first Premier League goal.
GOAL STANDS – Everton 3-0 Newcastle
Beto officially gets his first Premier League goal – he was JUST onside.
But what a night for those Everton fans. They are going out of the relegation zone and it has been a fantastic performance. Took some time to find the back of the net but they have finished in style.
VAR review on Everton goal
Beto beats the offside trap and scores his first Premier League goal…. or has he???
There is a VAR review.
GOAL!!! Tottenham 1-1 West Ham
Tottenham didn’t make their chances pay in the first-half, and they have been dearly punished in the opening stages of the second.
Jarrod Bowen who could barely get a touch of the ball in the first-half, scores just moments after Tottenham had a penalty appeal turned down for a handball on Coufal.
Bowen’s goal came after some pinball in the Spurs box presented him with a glorious opportunity which he didn’t waste.
NINE minutes of additional time at Goodison Park
Everton fans are not happy!
Second-half underway at Tottenham
As Everton’s game draws to a close, Tottenham vs West Ham is back underway.
GOAL!!! Everton 2-0 Newcastle – Tripper with ANOTHER mistake
Kieran Trippier is punished again by Everton and this time it’s Doucoure who doubles the Toffees lead.
Sub for Everton
Calvert-Lewin is replaced by Beto.
Everton set to escape relegation zone
So as things stand Everton are out of the relegation zone – some 20 days after their ten point deduction dropped them into the bottom three.
It’s a deserved lead, they have been the better side tonight but can they hold on?
GOAL!!! Everton 1-0 Newcastle
Everton finally have the lead and it’s a horrible moment for Trippier!
The Newcastle full-back loses the ball near the half-way line to McNeil who bursts forward and slams the shot home sending the Goodison Park crowd crazy!
Pickford down hurt
Concern for Everton as Pickford appears to have hurt his leg while kicking the ball while Branthwaite is getting treatment for a bloody nose.
Pickford drops to the ground and the Everton medics are feeling his knee. The Everton medical staff give a thumbs up which hopefully is a good sign for the England No 1
Wasteful from Everton
Wasteful from Everton as Joelinton gives the ball away and Everton break on the attack. Ashley Young has the ball with Calvert-Lewin ahead of him but the winger’s pass goes one way and the striker with a defender alongside him runs the other way and the chance goes.
OFF THE POST! And it's half-time
West Ham go into the break only 1-0 down but they are so lucky not to be two!
Kurt Zouma slides to block a Lo Celso cross only to shin the ball off the post!
Poor first-half from the Hammers but they are still in this game.
TWO minutes of added time at Tottenham
HUGE chance for West Ham
It has not been a great first-half for West Ham but if anyone has looked likely to create something it’s Kudus.
He causes more problems by breaking away from Ben Davies and putting in a cross for Lucas Paqueta who is in a glorious position only to head wide!
First change for Everton
Gordon fires another one over from outside the box and there’s a change meanwhile for Everton as Seamus Coleman – who appears to have a slight injury – is replaced by Nathan Patterson.
Big miss for Gordon
What a chance for Gordon to open the scoring on his return to Goodison!
Tarkowski is pick-pocketed by his former team-mate who then fires straight at Pickford to waste a glorious opportunity.
Painful one for Dubravka
Painful one for Dubravka who collects a long ball forward only to get caught on the heel by McNeil.
Newcastle can not deal with another injury to a goalkeeper at the moment but their No 2 is okay.
Over at Tottenham Lo Celso finds Brennan Johnson who forces Fabianski into a save – the West Ham goalkeeper very busy so far.
Lo Celso forces a save
Good stop from Fabianski as he keeps out a powerful volley from Giovani Lo Celso to prevent Tottenham getting a second.
Chance for Gordon!
Gordon attempts a curler from outside the box but it goes comfortably over to the ironic cheers from the Goodison crowd.
Not a pretty statistic for West Ham
Jarrod Bowen has only had four touches in the opening half hour at Tottenham. Shows you how little service West Ham’s attackers have had so far.
Kudus has a shot which he fires well off target but the offside flag goes up to splare his blushes.
Everton getting closer to a goal
Nervy moments from Dubravka as it looks like he jumps too early to collect a corner and though he grabs hold of the ball he loses it under pressure and the ball goes out for a second straight corner.
The second corner comes in and Calvert-Lewin has an effort on goal and Dubravka just about gets something on it – a vital touch – to deny the Magpies.
Over at Tottenham, the home side have another chance as Pedro Porro fires over.
First moment for West Ham
Maybe something to get West Ham going at least as Mohammed Kudus takes the ball from Destiny Udogie, drives forward and fires a shot which is deflected on its way to Vicario. David Moyes will be wanting to see more attacking prowess from his side.
Back underway at Goodison
Everton get us going for the second-half at Goodison Park.
Chance for Son
Heung-min Son has a chance on goal but he stutters mid-attempt and his effort bounces off the deck and into Fabianski’s arms.
West Ham offering nothing so far.
GOAL! Tottenham 1-0 West Ham
Cristian Romero on his return from a three-match suspension has put Tottenham in front!
A corner from the right-hand side is met by a perfect header from Romero who leaps above a crowd to to find the back of the net.
Dominant Tottenham
All Tottenham in the opening minutes of their clash with West Ham as they look to end their four-game winless run.
Spurs have had 90 per cent possession in the opening seven minutes and the Hammers look content to try and hit them on the break.
HALF-TIME
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been front and centre for Everton, missing that huge chance from about five yards out. The Toffees have had the better of the chances though Newcastle can also look to missed opportunities from Almiron and Isak.
All square at half-time.
Penalty shout at Tottenham
Dejan Kulusevski gets away from the defence and is clattered by Lukasz Fabianski and there’s shouts for a penalty but the Swedish international Kulusevski was offside as he broke clear.
Three minutes of stoppage time at Everton
Kick-off at Tottenham
And the game is underway at Tottenham
Biggest chance of the game!!!
It really should be 1-0!
He is four yards out and unmarked as the ball comes to him and he volleys it over the crossbar with so much of the goal to aim for.
Isak heads wide!
Really good move by Newcastle down the right flank leads to a cross coming into the box for Isak who heads off the ground and the ball goes just wide!
Pickford was scurrying across his goal-line but he would not have got there, huge chance for the Swedish striker.
First booking of the night
Unsurprisingly Gueye gets a yellow card for a challenge on Miley this time. He has to be very careful now.
Ten minutes until kick-off at Tottenham
Just a reminder that Everton vs Newcastle isn’t the only game tonight and we are shortly going to get underway at Tottenham for their clash with West Ham.
We will bring you all the key updates from there as well.
McNeil fires wide
Harrison drives at Lascelles and finds McNeil who maybe should hit it first time but he takes a touch and his shot scuffs off the ground and rolls wide.
At the other end Tarkowski makes a brilliant block to stop a shot from Bruno Guimaraes who is down and holding onto his leg after their collision.
Chance for Newcastle
Gueye now gives away a foul for a challenge on Gordon. He is probably on his last warning now.
Trippier whips in the free-kick off the right flank which is headed out by Branthwaite and volleyed comfortably over the cross-bar by Almiron.
Eddie Howe makes a tactical change
Gordon and Almiron have swapped wings so clearly Eddie Howe feels something isn’t quite working.
Meanwhile, Gueye is perhaps lucky to avoid a yellow for a late challenge on Trippier but no bookings so far.
Slow start for Newcastle
Other than that one shot by Almiron it has been a really disappointing opening for Newcastle so far.
Everton don’t look like a side that has lost five out of their seven home games this season!
Dubravka is being kept busy
Dubravka – coming in for the injured Pope – looks like he will have a busy evening as Calvert-Lewin is set free for his third shot in as many minutes and forces a save out of the Newcastle keeper.
Calvert-Lewin though didn’t make clean contact with the ball.
Two chances for Calvert-Lewin
Chance at the other end now as Harrison whips the ball into the box for Calvert-Lewin but some smart play by Trippier who gives him a little nudge in the air which is enough to put him off and stop him from putting a header on target.
Then not even a minute later Doucoure charges forward and tries to find the Everton frontman and this time it is Livramento who perhaps does just enough to put him off.
HUGE chance for Newcastle!
Ohh Miguel Almiron should be doing better here. Newcastle win the ball in the middle of the park and Joelinton picks out his team-mate well who instead of picking a side fires a tame effort right into the hands of Pickford.
Biggest chance of the game so far
Pickford deals with Trippier's free-kick
Trippier strikes the free-kick clean but Pickford positioned himself to comfortably gather the ball.
Free-kick for Newcastle
Livramento is hauled down just outside the box and this is a free-kick in a dangerous area for Trippier to take…
Good chance for Everton!
Everton are really on the front-foot here and the ball comes out wide to McNeil who finds Young in acres of space and the veteran’s shot is deflected behind for a corner.
From the resulting corner Branthwaite does well to get up but Newcastle’s defence do just enough to put him off and his header glances well wide.
Everton make the first attacking moves
Everton put the first real bit of pressure on as both Gueye and Young have shots blocked by the Newcastle defence.
Anthony Gordon meanwhile is fouled which gets a positive reception from the Everton crowd who are booing their former academy star’s every touch.
Branthwaite gets a boot to the head
Sore one for Branthwaite who slips while on the ball and then gets caught in the head by the boot of Isak who tried to jump over the Everton player and couldn’t do anything about it.
Branthwaite is okay though and is able to shake it off.
Kick-off
We are underway at Goodison Park!
The teams are out
The famous Goodison Park siren is played at Goodison and the two teams come out to a thunderous roar.
Strap in for what could be a cracking game between two sides in good form.
Not long to go
Not long to go until the teams will be making their way out at Goodison Park.
Another 50 minutes to go until the clash gets underway at Tottenham.
TEAM NEWS: West Ham
And here is how the visitor’s line-up tonight.
TEAM NEWS: Tottenham
Hojbjerg comes in for Gil while Romero also returns at the heart of the defence.
Howe on Dubravka's forced inclusion
On enforced change in goal as Martin Dubravka comes in: 'We are very confident in Martin, we have always believed he is an outstanding goalkeeper. He comes in and it is a great opportunity for him. He is very experienced and I think he is ideal for this situation.’
Dyche confident
Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Amazon Prime: ‘A couple of changes enforced on us but still think we can take this game and get what we want.
‘Newcastle have done very well, particularly at home, away has been challenging and we have to capitalise on that.
‘I know they have a few injuries but that is still a good side.’
Everton players arriving
Everton players pictured arriving at Goodison Park and meeting the mascots.
Crazy to think how without their deduction they could have been looking at jumping inside the top-ten this evening rather than just outside of the relegation zone and that is something they will quickly look to rectify.
Bite marks, brawls and Big League Stars!
There’s no love lost and no quarter given when Tottenham and West Ham clash.
There have been some epic and ferocious encounters down the years and Thursday night’s meeting in north London promises to be no exception.

Top four race heating up
Everton and West Ham will have different ideas, but victories for Newcastle and Tottenham tonight could really spice up the top four fight.
If you didn’t know what Man City were capable of especially after their Treble triumph last year, you’d think their top-four position is under really danger.
They sit fourth in the standings but could be joined on 30 points by Tottenham tonight.
Newcastle meanwhile could go just one point off City with a win, while Man United are three points off their rivals despite their own struggles this season.
Aston Villa are performing above many people’s expectations in third while leaders Arsenal and Liverpool could easily get pulled into the fight with a pair of defeats.
This season has all the makings of a classic in terms of the fight for the title and the top-four.
How Everton could play
This is how our Merseyside football reporter Lewis Steele reckons Everton will play tonight with Harrison notably behind the returning Calvert-Lewin.
TEAM NEWS: Newcastle
Just one change for Newcastle with Dubravka – as expected – coming in for the injured Nick Pope. Big chance for Dubravka to prove himself with Pope out for awhile – and while the Magpies are linked with the likes of David de Gea in the background!
TEAM NEWS: Everton
Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front for the Toffees after missing the clash against Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle have arrived
Eddie Howe’s side know they are in for a stern test this evening – has all the makings for what should be a cracking game.
Another big match tonight
Tottenham will look to end their four-game winless run when they take on London rivals West Ham at 8.15 tonight.
Ange Postecoglou’s side could go level with fourth-placed Man City with a victory, but the Hammers will provide stern competition this evening you’d expect.
We will bring you the team news for that game at around 7.15 plus updates from the game itself.
SIMON JORDAN: I didn't think Eddie Howe had the chops for Newcastle
Mail Sport columnist Simon Jordan has waxed lyrical on the job that Eddie Howe has done at St James’ Park.
He wrote: ‘My initial reaction was that it wasn’t an obvious fit. He was Newcastle’s second choice behind Unai Emery and had walked away from taking the Celtic job. At the time I perceived him not to have the stomach for it. I didn’t have high expectations, and to put it bluntly, didn’t think he had the chops to be Newcastle manager.
‘But he is doing a remarkable job and I don’t believe there’s anyone in English football who would be doing better than Howe is at Newcastle right now.’

Goodison is ready
Should be an electric atmosphere under the floodlights at Goodison Park tonight – especially with the added incentive of moving outside the relegation zone should they pick up all three points tonight.
Team news is expected in around 15 minutes.
How both sides' form looks coming into tonight's match
Both sides have taken ten points from their last five games and picked up big victories at the weekend.
Newcastle picked up one of the more comfortable 1-0 victories you will ever see against Manchester United, while the Toffees were made to work slightly harder in their own victory – by the same scoreline – at Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle won both fixtures against Everton last season including a 4-1 triumph at Goodison Park. The last time the Toffees won this fixture was back in March 2022 thanks to an Alex Iwobi 90th minute goal.
Could this man make an impact tonight?
There is every chance that Anthony Gordon could start his first game against the Toffees tonight, since he left his boyhood club for £45m back in January.
After a tough time at the Magpies initially after his move, he has arguably their best performer so far this term – with six goals and five assists to his name in the Premier League.
Gordon came on as a substitute when the sides met back in April, but in his current vein of form, he will be keen to impress against his boyhood side this evening.
Good evening!
Good evening one and all and welcome to Mail Sport’s live blog for Everton’s game against Newcastle at Goodison Park this evening.
Big opportunity for the Toffees who can jump out of the relegation zone despite their ten-point deduction for financial breaches. Injury-savaged Newcastle meanwhile could jump from seventh to fifth and go one point behind Man City with a victory.
Kick off is scheduled for 7:30, and we’ll be bringing you updates from Tottenham vs West Ham too, which kicks off at 8.15.
