Former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams has died at the age of 36 from injuries he suffered in a tragic accident on a construction site, it has been reported.
The Syracuse college star, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs across five years in the NFL, called time on his football career in 2016.
He earned a total of $11,848,250 during his time in the NFL, predominantly with the Chiefs, who drafted him in the fourth round in 2010 and handed him a four-year contract.
It has been reported that Williams was working on a construction site in recent weeks, where he suffered the fatal accident.
His death was first reported by Buffalo Bills beat reporter Jon Scott, who confirmed the news with multiple sources.

Further details were revealed on a GoFundMe page, purportedly set up by Williams’ father, Wendell Muhammed.
The page – which was originally set up before he died in a bid to help Williams’ father travel to the hospital in Tampa, Florida – claims that a steel beam fell on his head, causing a massive head injury.
Williams’ father goes on to explain that the ex-NFL star suffered swelling on his brain and spinal cord, as well as complete paralysis in his right arm and below the waist.

The post continues by stating that he passed out on September 1 after suffering breathing difficulties caused by the accident, before doctors discovered water in his lungs and then placed him into an induced coma on September 3.
Williams’ father said in the post that doctors had scheduled to try and wake him on September 6, but it has since been reported that he succumbed to the injuries.
Before his pro football career, Williams was a star of the college game with Syracuse, where he played for three seasons.
In his NFL career, he made 223 receptions, scoring 26 touchdowns with 3,089 receiving yards.
