Templegate's runner-by-runner guide

MAKSUD 2

MAK do. Climbing weights without winning and didn't seem to stay when caught at Windsor latest. Needs a bit more.

CAIUS CHORISTER 2

CHOR blimey. Top form on quick ground with five wins in a row before going close in the Melrose at York. Hated soft in France last time so more rain a worry.

WILD CRUSADE 1

WILD child. Couple of small-field wins over this trip but has been poor last two runs so questions to answer.

FIRST RULER 4

FIRST rate. Improver who went close over this trip in good company at Ascot latest. Has more to come and can go close.

HAUNTED DREAM 3

DREAM on. Good AW win latest and 3lb rise looks fair. Stays well and likes cut in the ground. Place claims.

BALTIC BIRD 2

BIRD must fly. Won Yarmouth maiden before struggling in Group 2. Little promise on return last month and others preferred.

LA YAKEL 5

LA law. Game Ascot win on handicap debut over this trip latest. Travels strongly and is capable of better. Major player.

THUNDERING 3

THUNDER clap. Best over this trip and handles any ground. Likes a big field and looks on a fair mark. Contender.

COSMIC DESERT 3

COS player. Progressive over 1m2f and easy Sandown win latest. Up fair 4lb for that and has more to offer.

SEA KING 4

CROWN King. Went close in good Haydock contest latest, strong stayer, every chance off same handicap mark.

PARADIAS 3

PAR score. Two solid runs at Goodwood over shorter but should stay. Yard in form, handles any ground so each-way shout.

EDUCATOR 4

ED boy. Two good wins in spring and needed comeback last month. Shapes like a stayer and on fair mark. Has more to come.

AL NAFIR 3

FIR chance. Fair runs in good company at York and Ascot where he may not have stayed this trip. More needed.

SHEER ROCKS 2

ROCKS off. Been busy and didn't fire in the Melrose after a good Ascot effort. Better over this trip but doesn't want rain.

BERKSHIRE REBEL 1

BERK needs bite. Not fired yet this season and well held at Newbury last time. Down weights but question marks.

SIMPLY SONDHEIM 3

SIMPLY solid. Has won last six at lower levels and now 31lb higher than first victory. Can run well again upped in grade.

Templegate tip

YAK looks a beast in the Old Rowley Cup.

LA YAKEL got the better of First Ruler at Ascot last month and can confirm the form here.

The William Haggas runner relished every yard of this trip and was going away at the line.

That was an impressive handicap debut and there's more to come.

First Ruler looks a threat again for in-form William Buick and Charlie Appleby.

He likes to be up with the pace and can hold on for a place.

Educator should improve for this longer distance and can give The King a good run.

Sea King is another to watch after a good effort at Haydock.
