Jadon Sancho ‘jetted to New York 24 hours BEFORE Saudi transfer window slammed shut’ despite Man Utd listening to offers | The Sun

JADON SANCHO flew to New York just 24 hours before the Saudi Arabian transfer window closed, according to reports.

The Manchester United forward, 23, endured a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag after being left out of the Red Devils' squad for the 3-1 loss to Arsenal before the international break.

His manager claimed he dropped Sancho due to his "performances in training", before the attacker hit back by insisting he was being made a "scapegoat".

This led many to believe his days at Old Trafford were numbered, despite the European transfer window already being shut in all countries apart from Turkey.

As a result, he was heavily linked with a move to Saudi like many high-profile stars in the summer.

But according to The Athletic, the player and his representatives knocked back all approaches from the Middle East.

And on the Wednesday – one day before the Saudi window shut – he boarded a flight from Manchester to New York.

This was to attend the birthday party of NBA basketball star John Wall – who turned 33 on September 6.

It is understood there were no discussions with Ten Hag before he granted time off to players such as Sancho.

But the English winger had no obligation to stay in the country during the international break as he had not been picked by Gareth Southgate.

Sancho has contributed 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances for Man Utd.

He came off the bench in each of United's opening three Premier League games of the season.

But he was then dropped from the squad altogether ahead of the defeat to Arsenal.

It is unclear whether he will return to the fray for the home Premier League game against Brighton on Saturday.
