James Rodriguez hailed as a hero as image emerges of LIFE-SAVING action after Ousmane Coulibaly suffered cardiac arrest

A NEW photo has revealed James Rodriguez performed a life-saving move to Ousmane Coulibaly following his cardiac arrest.

The Mali star remains in a stable condition in hospital after suffering a heart attack during a league game in Qatar.

The 16-cap international was playing for Al Wakrah during their QNB Stars League clash with Al Rayyan.

But in horrifying scenes, Coulibaly, 32, collapsed late in the first half.

Panicked medics rushed onto the pitch with the game temporarily halted.

After realising the severity of the issue, the match was eventually abandoned, the scoreline 1-0 to Al Rayyan at the time of Coulibaly's collapse.

Rodriguez was playing for Al-Rayyan against Al-Wakrah and the former Everton and Real Madrid midfielder raced over to the aid of the defender before medics got there.

The Colombian was caught by beIN SPORTS as he adjusted the head of his rival in order to allow him to be able to breathe prior to doctors getting onto the scene to continue the treatment.

“It may be noted that the player is currently receiving necessary medical care and attention.

“The Qatar Stars League wishes the player a fast recovery, and we would like to thank the medical staff of both teams, paramedics and doctors for their great efforts during such events.

“Regarding the status of the match, it was agreed to end it and complete the remaining time later starting with the score when it was stopped (1-0 in favour of Al Rayyan).”

Meanwhile the players of Al Wakrah and Al Rayyan paid tribute to the medical staff who saved Coulibaly's life in the rearranged game played on Monday.

They formed a guard of honour and clapped the heroes out onto the field before posing with both teams who held a shirt with the stricken star's name on the back.
