Liverpool vs Everton LIVE: Toffees look to stop Merseyside rivals from going top in tasty Prem clash – stream, TV | The Sun

LIVERPOOL host Merseyside rivals Everton TODAY as they look to keep the bragging rights over their neighbours from across Stanley Park.

The Reds have had a good start to the season, sitting just three points off top spot.

Boss Jurgen Klopp will be fully aware that Anfield hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Saturday's opponents.

Everton beat Liverpool 2-0 in front of an empty Kop in a behind-closed-doors derby back in 2021.

But you have to go all the way back to 1999 for their last triumph in front of an Anfield crowd.

It was Kevin Campbell that bagged the winner on that day in a match that saw referee Mike Riley dish out three red cards.

This weekend's officials will hope to keep a tighter lid on things, with Liverpool having already had four players sent off this term.

While the Reds sit fourth in the table, Everton are down in a lowly 16th.

The Toffees endured a dreadful start to the season under Sean Dyche, failing to win any of their first five games.

Recent wins over Brentford and Bournemouth have eased pressure, but a home defeat to Luton sandwiched in between confirms Everton's status as a tough team to predict.

Liverpool will go into the game as strong favourites to win.

But the Toffees will surely be up for this huge derby clash.

What is their form like?

Liverpool have not won a Premier League match since beating West Ham 3-1 on September 24.

They have since triumphed in cup competitions against Leicester and Union Saint-Gilloise.

In the Prem, the Reds lost 2-1 to Tottenham with nine men, before drawing 2-2 at Brighton.

Everton grabbed their first win of the season with a 3-1 win at Brentford, before slumping to a dreadful 2-1 loss to Luton at Goodison.

Last time out they beat winless Bournemouth 3-0 thanks to goals by James Garner, Jack Harrison and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

What is the team news and any injuries to worry about?

Curtis Jones remains suspended following his red card at Tottenham, while fellow midfielders Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are nursing injury issues.

Diogo Jota is available again after serving his one-game ban, while Cody Gakpo could return.

Andy Robertson could miss out after suffering a shoulder issue in Scotland's clash with Spain, and backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is out with a knee injury.

Idrissa Gueye, Seamus Coleman and Andre Gomes are all injury doubts for Everton – while Dele Alli remains out.

Who will be the star men?

Mo Salah will no doubt be key to Liverpool's attacking efforts this weekend.

The Egyptian is having another brilliant season, having scored five and assisted a further four goals in eight Prem appearances.

Everton, meanwhile, will likely have to withstand heavy pressure.

England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will need to be in top form if his side are to get anything.
