Man Utd fans expecting 'attack, attack, attack' under Ten Hag in for rude awakening as analysis shows his real traits

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have rejoiced after the club confirmed Erik ten Hag as their next permanent manager.

The 52-year-old will succeed interim gaffer Ralf Rangnick in the dugout at Old Trafford at the end of the campaign on an initial deal until 2025.

Supporters of the Red Devils believe the good times may be coming back to the Theatre of Dreams with the club on course for their worst season in three decades.

The United faithful are hoping he can transfer his success from Ajax over to England while also playing an attractive style of football.

But in statistical data gathered by quantitative analysis experts Carteret Analytics, fans expecting an 'attack, attack, attack' philosophy may be in for a rude awakening.

That is because his attacking coefficient, which measures the manager’s propensity to play an attacking style of football, is the exact same as Rangnick's at 18.39.

That is considerably lower than United's other candidate Mauricio Pochettino (25.33) and even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's at 20.11.

The Carteret Analytics boffins state that this shows that Ten Hag does not play the style that fans want to see when compared to Rangnick and Solskjaer, who have struggled with their game approaches.

This is shown in the Success-adjusted Attacking Coefficient, which measures the manager’s propensity to play an attacking style of football.

Ten Hag's 15.20 is significantly better than both Rangnick's 11.80 and Solskjaer's 9.48.
