Man Utd fans fume 'always the budget options' as club plot raid on Serie A side Lecce for cheap striker in January | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED fans fumed that it is “always the budget options” after a new report linked with Lecce’s Nikola Krstovic.

Erik ten Hag is believed to be keen on strengthening his attack due to a lack of goals this term.

Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund is the club’s current top scorer with five, but he has yet to hit the target in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, fellow forwards Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have only found the net once this term.

Now a report from Calcio Mercato in Italy says that United are looking for a cheap striker in January to bolster their forward line.

And they state that Lecce’s Montenegro international Krstovic, 23, could be a potential option.

BIG PLAN

Fans claim Prem legend 'is coming' to replace Ten Hag as he sits next to Fergie

The Italian club only signed the striker for around £3.5million in the summer from Red Star. Krstovic has scored four goals in 11 Serie A matches, and that has also allegedly caught the eye of Inter Milan and United.

That has led to his price tag rising to around £8.5m – a fee that both of the above could easily afford and would be prepared to gamble on a new addition.

However, as the transfer report was shared on social media, angry United supporters were less than impressed.

And they vented their fury over the club’s decision to allegedly go for a cheaper alternative rather than splash out on a proven big name.

“Always the budget options,” declared one fan.

Another wrote: “CHEAP. CHEAP. CHEAP. SICK OF THIS CLUB.”

A fellow supporter said: “Same old story. Cheap cheap everytime.”

While another commented: “That's the United way. Overspend on positions they don't need and underspend on positions they do need. Classic United.”
