    Rashford in training

Marcus Rashford was all smiles in England training amid fears he was going to be sidelined with injury.

The Manchester United star was subbed off for Cole Palmer after 61 minutes during Friday's 2-0 win over Malta.

Rashford had collided with Trent Alexander-Arnold just before and looked in pain as he trudged off the pitch.

Manager Gareth Southgate attempted to play down injury fears, saying: "I think he is probably okay.

"We just thought given the nature of the collision it was a chance to get Cole into the game.

"I haven’t assessed too much but I think he was okay when he came off."

    Ratcliffe will turn Utd around

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been tipped to turn things around at Manchester United by one of his former managers – Adrian Ursea.

Ursea told The Mirror: "The biggest difference was the club became certain there would no longer be problems with money.

"The first time I was there there were huge financial problems but once Ineos arrived – they went. I saw Jim sometimes but he only visited training sessions once or twice – not more.

"After I left, Ineos began spending more money on transfers.

"They spent around £52million in the market. Before, the club wouldn't permit a transfer that cost more than £4.3m or £5.2m.

"Then Nice started to have the power to spend up to £13m on players because with Ineos the money was there. It was very important to save the situation – relegation would have been a catastrophe for the club."

    Classy United

Man Utd have launched a classy initiative that will see former academy players given extra support.

The scheme saw seven ex-players return to the club's Carrington training base to hand them additional support as they recover from injury or new pathways.

Man Utd Academy Director Nick Cox confirmed this would be the first of many events the club would be putting on to bolster its Alumni Programme.

Big boost for club and country

Marcus Rashford smiled as he took part in England training this morning.

The United man limped off for the Three Lions on Friday night against Malta but was involved as the preparations continued to face North Macedonia in the final Euro 2024 qualifier.

Firm believer in route to success

The Red Devils are using an American recruitment firm to find them a new top talent spotter.

United have hired the Los Angeles-based Pace agency to sift through candidates for an ‘emerging talent scout’ role.

The Old Trafford club think that they are falling short in that department compared to neighbours Manchester City and Prem rivals Chelsea.

But outsourcing rather than using their own people to discover someone suitable is a surprise move.

It comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe made his first major power play at United by axing the club’s chief executive Richard Arnold.

    Right or Ron?

David De Gea has turned down a potential £500,000 a week and a chance to link up with Cristiano Ronaldo again in Saudi Arabia, SunSport can exclusively reveal.

Keeper De Gea, 33, is without a club after leaving Manchester United in the summer.

Ronaldo’s Saudi side Al-Nassr were keen to make him the latest big-name addition and retain hope of talking him round.

But sources close to De Gea insist wife Edurne is not keen on joining the Middle East exodus.

United could yet offer De Gea a short-term deal, while Valencia’s interest in the Spaniard may be scuppered by their financial issues.

There is also interest from Inter Miami and the prospect of playing in MLS does hold some appeal.

    Going on a 'mann hunt

United are reportedly plotting a shock swoop for Antoine Griezmann.

The Red Devils have met with the Frenchman's representatives over a possible transfer.

It is said Griezmann's release clause is just £21.9m – a very affordable price.

And in order to seal the switch, United could offer Griezmann as much as TRIPLE his current wages – taking him up to around £350,000 per week.

    Roo beauties

Wayne and Coleen Rooney starred at last night's Football For Change gala in Manchester.

The former Red Devils skipper was joined by his wife at the glamorous event to support the charity founded by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jamie Carragher and Conor Coady.

Plenty of other footballers – including Peter Crouch – were in attendance as well as a host of celebrities.

    Wout about that?

Former United loanee Wout Weghorst did not exactly pull up trees during his loan at Old Trafford last season.

The Dutchman managed two goals in 31 appearances.

But he produced a stunning spin and an emphatic finish to break the deadlock for Holland against Ireland – and it proved to be the only goal of the game.

    'Something is cooking'

The comments excited plenty of United supporters and they hailed their skipper for tapping up teenager Neves.

One said: "Agent Bruno, you have one thing to do."

Another wrote: "Agent Bruno doing his thing, expect to see the player at MUFC in the summer."

A third added: "That's why I love him so much."

A fourth said: "Come to Manchester United."

And a final user commented: "Something is cooking here."

    Bruno on his special mission

United fans are heaping praise on "agent" Bruno Fernandes for publicly planting a transfer seed.

The Red Devils captain, 29, is currently away with Portugal.

And during camp, he openly discussed the idea of linking up with Portuguese sensation Joao Neves for club as well as country.

Fernandes told Sport TV: "I would love to have him at United.

    "But it’s Joao choice…

    "He has top quality.

“He’s a great player but it depends on the coach's ideas.

"He will have a great future, in United or somewhere else."

    Oh no, Onana

Rashford is not the only United man who picked up a problem on international duty.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana had to be helped off the pitch during Cameroon's World Cup qualifier against Mauritius.

The likes of Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez are currently out with long-term problems and adding Rashford and Onana to the growing list is further cause for concern.

    Sweating on Marcus

Everyone connected with Manchester United will be sweating on Marcus Rashford.

The forward is struggling for goals this season with one goal in 16 matches.

And now he risks being sidelined by injury.

Ten Hag blamed for Rashford's form

Tim Sherwood has blamed Erik ten Hag for not getting the best out of Marcus Rashford.

"No, not a chance. He can thank his manager for playing his way out of the England team, unfortunately," Sherwood told Sky Sports.

"I think if he was at Man City now, I think he's got all the attributes to be a world-class player and make the England team.

"I think there's not going to be a turnaround between now and the end of the season, unfortunately, and I think he can thank Ten Hag for that because he's not been good enough. "

Fernandes names player he wants at Old Trafford

Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes has named Joao Neves as the player he would most like to see at Old Trafford.

Neves was linked with a move the Premier League recently.

Manager Erik ten Hag was said to be targeting the Portuguese star to add more energy into his midfield.

He told Sport TV: "I would love to have him at United, he has top quality! But it’s João's choice. He’s a great player but it depends on the manager's ideas! He will have a great future, in United or somewhere else."

    Ratcliffe's transfer plans

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's incoming arrival at Old Trafford won't affect the club's January transfer plans.

The Football Insider claim Utd are concerned about breaching Financial Fair Play.

And they could be forced into looking at the loans market.

    City could get relegated

Man City are being warned they could face their D-day over financial fair play as early as next year — and “all hell will break loose” if they lose.

And Chelsea have been told it is “inevitable” they will be in trouble after admitting to rule-breaking during Roman Abramovich’s reign.

Football is still reeling from Everton’s sanction for breaching FFP rules.

And football finance expert Stefan Borson said: “There are too many things that ‘might’ happen if City are found against. It will be very serious — all hell will break loose.

“It will turn into an enormous story — not just in respect of football but much wider than that. So many parties will be implicated.

“It will be an incredibly explosive situation.”

Chelsea have reportedly joined the ring for the Irish forward, say the Football Insider.

They claim this could force United to move sooner for their target.

Utd signing celebrated move in chip shop

Former Manchester United star Alex Buttner has revealed he was in a CHIPPY when Sir Alex Ferguson signed him.

He told the Mirror: “I was eating a big portion of chips with some mates and my brother when I got this call from my agent.

“It was quite weird because a few weeks before, I had been looking at clubs of a completely different level in England. Southampton, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers.

“I was going to sign with one of those clubs, I thought. Now suddenly I was wanted by Manchester United?

“I thought it was a massive prank because when I had been visiting one of the other clubs, at one of the stadiums there was a Manchester United book and I said to my agent ‘take a picture of me with the book and we'll pretend I am in England to sign with Man United’.

“I thought it would be a cracker because my friends knew I had gone to England.

“Then a week later my agent called me when I was in the chip shop and just said ‘Alex, it’s Manchester United’.

“I just thought, f**k off, but he was really serious. Everyone around me looked at me and wondered what was going on.

“All my mates looked at me and I said ‘we are going to Manchester!’ Then everyone went crazy. The chip shop was upside down. It was such a great moment.

“Celebrating the biggest transfer of your life in the chip shop around the corner. My brother jumped on the table, my mates went wild.”

    Utd's got talent

Man Utd are using an American recruitment firm to find them a new top talent spotter.

The Red Devils think that they are falling short in that department compared to neighbours Manchester City and Prem rivals Chelsea.

But outsourcing rather than using their own people to discover someone suitable is a surprise move.

The first stage of the interview process is also different.

Candidates are interviewed via a computer before their answers are analysed.

It comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe made his first major power play at United by axing the club’s chief executive Richard Arnold.

Saha tips United to sign centre back

Louis Saha believes Man Utd should go in for Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

"He’s a very good defender," he told Betfred.

"He’s very unlucky because currently there’s a golden generation of French defenders and that’s why he doesn’t have many caps for the national team.

"He’s very good on the ball, he’s calm and he would very much suit Manchester United’s style of play."
